We have dogs all around us (neighbors) so i doubt deer, and cats, dogs would've tried to get at my birds, so that leaves skunk.

second picture at least in the picture looks like deer tracks. unless the dogs are in there then it would not matter about the deer. they go right next to my livestock guardian dog as she barks her head off. they know she's fenced . that picture looks like deer or goat type hoofed tracks but they look like what the deer leave in the snow here all the time anyways

I agree about the deer tracks.
Our deer have learned which houses to avoid and which are deer friendly. They know ours dogs are only in the front portion and the back acre is theirs. We have a doe that chooses to have her fawns behind us and uses our dogs as additional look outs.

Got to go to a holiday party at Eatwell Farm out just past @TheKeeper over the weekend. It was wonderful to see their Australorps running around all over the place. The roos were all perfect gentlemen too. They gave us a wide berth as we walked around and went to see the horse and cows.

I need eggs lol if be grateful to anyone for eggs right now xD i don't even care about breedi just want fluffy butts

Nicki, I can hand off some of my ladies eggs if you can make the drive to the Placerville area. They are mostly Faverolle s and some mixed babies.I've been wanting some fluffy butts too, but can't keep the little roos and had such a hard time finding homes last year... So I've had 6 lovely eggs staring at me for the past week, just waiting for me to make up my mind. They are yours if you would like them.

I finally made it to trader joes today. My store in Stockton does carry fertile eggs. 2.99 for a dozen.
I tried to find out when they were laid but all I saw on the carton was good til Jan 20. I have no experience shipping fertile eggs. I guess I could look online to find out how to do it.
I was also thinking of getting an incubator and hatching some myself. It would be good practice because I am wanting to get some expensive eggs to hatch and I would like to practice hatching some practice eggs.

It would be fun to do some for the grandkids at Easter time. I am very happy with my mcmurray assortment I got last May. They are laying like crazy. If I had a rooster I guess I could have my own fertile eggs.

Wondering if I bought a rooster what breed I should get. I guess I could buy the breed I want to raise eventually but those chicks are 99 dollars apiece. That's a lot of money for a chicken.

I know a lot people just give away roosters but I would like a quality show one that I could eventually raise some show chickens. Probably need to start with a lower quality one because the learning curve is steep at my house with 7 hungry dogs. Once I feel confident that they are well protected I could invest more money.

if bantams are an option come spring I will probably have some extra serama roosters... not free but they are probably not going to be over 50

Look on the end of the box for a three digit date. That is the Julian date--
