OSH had an Orbit timer on sale. It is easy to use and understand. The old one was a Nelson that did not last into a second year of use. It did not work as well. I have a splitter to run two lines of orbit misters.

My Orbit mister is on its 3rd year of use - just have to replace the little spray nozzles once a year. I bought a 2nd Orbit in case this old one conks out but they are pretty sturdy. I bought an Arctic Cool to try also but I'm pretty satisfied with the Orbit Mistand. Puts out a lot of vapor mist for only two nozzles on the head.

I am hoping that the new water we switch to tomorrow will help. It is going to be 80% less hard so we should not have the problems we have now with deposits and clogging.

Without a water softener, water heaters quickly fill up with "rocks".

Is it easier to just replace the nozzles than to clean them. I have some soaking in vinegar right now.

The water is so bad here that it pits the nozzle and then will not mist any more.
Last summer I used their calcium filter for hard water and it worked! This year I should not need to use the filter.

Get some nozzles as a backup in case the cleaning does not work.

Yep, I hear that about the hard water - ours is terrible which is why we keep a cupful of mister nozzles available for changing out when they clog up. Our water softener bit the dust years ago. It's less hassle to just have the plumber change out our house water heater every 8 or 10 years.

I bought CLR for cleaning mineral deposits and the CLR was a waste of money - our water is just too terribly hard. I have to replace house faucets about ever 5 years in the house and about every 10 years outside. Replacing the clogged mister nozzles is just the best way to go and not that expensive - saves time and anguish from trying to clean out the little clogged nozzles. Anything that saves me time with the chickens is worth it to me.
