California - Northern

Yup....have seen people even on this site in quarantine areas attempting to both buy and sell birds, sometimes out of state. :duc I am nowhere near any of the affected areas and I am still getting the heeby-jeebies. Everyone is getting an extra long QT coming in and if I let birds go to newer hobbyists I make sure they're informed about it. I think I am cancelling my summer country fair plans. I still plan on taking birds to the local swap, but not bringing any back with me (and will have a dedicated outfit etc).
The outbreak that moved up North is likely due to moving chickens out of the QT area and maybe not knowing it was a problem. One went to Idaho too and caused an outbreak there. Very good thoughts on how to proceed this year.

Now that everyone's nice and freaked out and definitely not in the frame of mind to buy things :plbb:

Let me know if anyone's interested in some meat bunnies! I'm about to have a small horde for a very short period of time and if anyone else has recently caught the rabbit fever I drive between Lake Tahoe/Truckee and SF bay area frequently and could drop some off anywhere along the way. I think between two of us there are about to be about 16 to choose between (flemish/NZ/rex and flemish/NZ/chinchilla mixes, in grey, reddish-brown, white, and broken black). We're both hoping to fill our freezer but I know that'll be more than the case for me at least so I'd sell 2-3 from my half. I would much rather they go to a home if someone wanted one.

(I do have quail but I do not live in an agricultural area nor do I frequent any besides tractor supply so I'd say my risk of passing anything related to what we were talking about just by proximity is very low.)

The meat rabbits sound great!

I hope you find someone to get some of them

I always feel weird cross-posting advertisements but when I don't on here people tell me to. :th

Last chance call for juvenile male coturnix quail ($5/each) from this batch, and taking reservations for straight run chicks due early April.

So you are going to process yours but you want to find homes for some, as in pets.

They are meat rabbits and we're bred as such, so yes, their final destination is the freezer if no one else wants any. That said, they're super cute little greys and broken blacks and they'd make great pets or meat breeding animals if anyone was interested. They are semi-socialized.
