Great Idea! Have a great trip.
Great looking Penes! Let me know how you want to get them to me.
I moved my probably basque cockerel and the two TJs chicks in with my two Pennes tonight. I hope they get along tomorrow. I need to make room. AI will me moving my 3 Heritage RIRs in with the layers soon and move them out so that I can move my 9 Dorking crosses into the chicken hutch. They are 4 weeks old and I am starting to tell the boys from the girls. I have have a blue Marans Dorking pullet and a black marans Dorking pullet.
I figured it was stress and the season and their age. I'm not that upset, but Drew put a golf ball in one of their nests and it tricks me every time! Lol The first time I saw it, I literally gasped and said "oooh yay an egg!" But it was just a golf ball.

ha, ha, i did that in one of my coops and to this day I have no idea where that golf ball went. it was there for about 4 days and then mysteriously disappeared. has never resurfaced... hmmm. the golf ball mystery...

I saw a story today--a snake ate the golf ball and skipped the eggs. The person thought it was because the golf ball smelled more like "chicken" since it had been in the nest longer.

Nice watering system. Mine have not figured out how to work them. Silly chickens...
how much are those cup waterers? I was thinking about trying those in my one coop that doesn't already have the auto water system in it
BTW, i am being a total post hog but I haven't sat down on this site in almost a week and really got to read through things. Anyway, today I got 5 Cream legbar eggs, 4 yesterday and 4 the day before. pretty sure all the girls are starting up. it was like the egg drought was broken today. All my BLRWs lay so I got 6 eggs there and just about everything else that normally lays, lay today. Hoping this is the new normal and molting is over!
