If anyone is interested in the Nipples style, I bought mine of ebay for about $.60 each, including shipping. They come from China so it takes 2-4 weeks to get em, but at that price well worth the wait.
So.....first thing this morning when I turned on the news I see another bad fire in Lake Co....anyone have more info on where it is ?
In the photos looked like pine forest in hills, so I am guessing it is towards Napa ?
You have property there, don't you? Here's a thread that I follow that has info from firefighters. It's one of the best places to get details on fires:
How cute!!! My daughter just saw the chicks and asked when will we be hatching again.. She loves the "white" chicks (the splashes I get) and they are her favorites.

I am going to go with the nipples aswell. Is that the only place they ship them from? Or just the cheapest? I am leaving right after thanksgiving so 4 weeks would be pushing it.
Lol has good taste! I like splashes too! But she did ask a very good question...... When ARE you hatching again??
Id still like to get some of blue double laced barnevelders.
You can actually here them from outside of the garage! No joke!

Hi,
I think locally they sell for around 2.50 each. How many do you need? I bought 50 and can share, at .60 cents each plus whatever it costs to get them to you.
Sorry I have been away, the rest of life got very busy. Good to see everyone is doing well. LOVE those Penns its great to see local people working with hard to find chickens that need help!
This thread is such eye candy, you all take wonderful pictures and take such great care of your birds. I just use my phone, that has a meh camera and don't crop, you all always put me to shame. Good luck on the calendar pics everyone. I voted and noticed ther ewere not a ton of pages left, but we still had a good number of entries. Go team norcal GO!
We had some something happen to the last of my next years Silkie pullets. Both My splashes are gone. No pile of feathers, no freaked out other chickens, they were just gone. I was on site for 3 days, and H didnt notice they were gone, so I dont know WHEN it happened, night or day. I'm thinking it was during the day, I know that one of the roos was trying to get back into silkieland the day I left, and I think maybe Dora and shuffles went to try and free range. Dora was a midget chicken so it could very well have been a hawk. I think I am going to ahve to trim their crests and beards so they can see well enough to scoot. we are also going to cover the area of silkieland that is under a tall tree rather then compltly covered as well. So papa, if you are still trying to trim down your silkies let em know! it looks like i need more girls.
I was thinking maybe we should just give up on the silkies, the large birds that ca see have no problem keeping away from preditors, but I just love the breed. So once more into the fray, with more protection this time.
We have at least 2 juvie Possums around so we put the trap out, but haven't caught them yet. One of them got bold and came out wie I was still trying to hunt down the baby roos that are trying to hide from the big roos and tore a big piece of skin of his back. Little scabby is inside recovering. He is clearly more uncomfortable today. Is there anything you can give chickens for pain? I keep telling the preditors around here we are only 7 min form downtown, you should be in the hills! But they are not paying attention.
The turkeys are moved outside and doing well. They think they are lap turkeys and should sleep inside on the couch. They cry so when we put them in the coop and cling to me like they are puppies. So much for eating these guys, lucky they are a pair.
here are some pics from the last week
Orlando, the CL roo, escaped and on the lawn looking for large women. ( The marans laugh so hard when he dances around them)
Quails in cups
Hope everyone is gearing up for a wonderful weekend!

Wow, Thanks !
Yes we have property there in Lower Lake, and Dad still has his place at the "Y" or "Wye" at 29 & 53.
He just missed getting the "Wye" fire.....by mere 50 yards or so.
Still no rain down there ?
I have a question about the rules. I know that you can't list chickens that you have for sale outside of the Buy-Sell-Trade area, correct? But on the threads that you frequent, can you say that you are reducing your flock and is anyone interested in them?
Correct, they should be in the BST section. Listed as a classified if they are for sale or in the Animals in Need of Free Rehoming if they are free. Once you set up the classified, you can link it to your signature or mention it in this thread with a link.
As for auto waterers, I have this one and it's working out wonderfully. The birds trained themselves in 1 day to use it. The water stays nice and cool, even on really hot days.

Thank you so much for your update! I got a call this morning from my Oldest Daughter(you met her at the Heirloom Expo) to let me know that three of my chicks were running around the garage. The hutch had one side unlatched and they were able to squeeze out. Little escape artists!
