Okay, to tell you how spoiled I am, DH does all the feeding, watering, heavy lifting, coop building, etc. My job it to collect eggs, take photos, decide who to keep, etc. and admire the chickens.

So I can't really hide how many birds are out there.

I doubt that the "Americauna" hens she is selling are pure (no i in Ameraucana). Probably EEs which as you know, are great chickens, and often more productive layers than the purebreds.
Also, if the pullets are 7-8 months as the ad states, they should already be laying by now. Maybe ask a few questions about this!

Yeah, the ad also spelled Araucana wrong, but some people just can't spell

I'd take a good look at their legs/combs/vents to get a better idea if you decide to go see them.

and she is acting healthy & normal -- and she is too shy for me to be able to catch to investigate the vent more closely.

If she's acting normally, I'd do nothing and just keep your eye on her for a couple of days.

I think I have a showboy, a blue Silkie and a black silkie. The last two are olive eggers. Chiquita gave me the eggs so she knows.

What the heck is a showboy? Also I'm assuming the chick on the far right is the one you are calling a black silkie? Does it also have a lot of normal feathers? It's kind of hard to tell in the picture. Are the feet/legs feathered?

But if no one has anything

It is too bad we are not closer. I have three Hatchery(Ideal) RIRs that are 1.5 year old you could have. I also have a couple of Hatchery Barred Rocks too. They are at the molt phase, but are great layers.

I took some pictures today and these are some of their babies:
I am traveling down to davis area this coming weekend and could likely haul some chickens back from Ron to Amy Beth if you guys want me to.

Alternatively, I am sure I could find you a few easter eggers Amy Beth. I have one that is laying right now that I would sell you and I have a few that are 14-16 weeks old I think?? (really not sure on timeline anymore but probably could figure it out by looking at my hatching records! :). I may have a blue ameracauna as well. So, that will give you at least a few more options.

oh that is too bad. so sorry.
they should pay for your loss at least.

Oh they will. Its more the emotional damage I am sad about. I love my animals, they are very dear to my heart and I was just getting to know this group.

All I have left is my blue hen unless she dies of stress. I have all the babies still too but those were my layers.

Came home tonight to 6 dead chickens. 3 hens, 3 roosters. All prime, 6 month old, healthy, sweet, beautiful birds. Dead because people are idiots and can't contain their dogs.
I'm so sorry....this must have been horrible to come home to. Have you had the chance to talk to the owners of the dogs......and explain that you will shoot them next time you see them on your property!!!! Pam

yeah that is too bad. what area do you live?

I'm in Middletown, Lake county. We just moved here from Napa a month ago.

I'm trying to look up the cost of a 6 month old bird of the breeds they were. I wasn't sure of the breed so I'm going by type.

So far I need prices for 2 buff orpington hens, 1 white orpington, 1 Black Copper Maran, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte and I'm not sure about the blue one, Langshan was someone best guess. I'm not sure. I dont' even know where I can get birds of that age right now.

Drew just went to the store to get more bullets for the .45 because SOMETHING stole the blue roo from on top of the garbage can when I was walking the property tracking down the rest. We think the dog is STILL at large and I have no problem shooting it. Apparently the owner of the dog is in Los angeles. Drew went down to the house but it looks abandon but I have seen this dog before. It looks like a coyote.
