I'm in Middletown, Lake county. We just moved here from Napa a month ago.

I'm trying to look up the cost of a 6 month old bird of the breeds they were. I wasn't sure of the breed so I'm going by type.

So far I need prices for 2 buff orpington hens, 1 white orpington, 1 Black Copper Maran, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte and I'm not sure about the blue one, Langshan was someone best guess. I'm not sure. I dont' even know where I can get birds of that age right now.
maybe see if Deann at Just Struttin ( on this thread) has anything similar?
she is in novato. it will probably be tough to get exactly those but maybe something else similar?
sorry again

Came home tonight to 6 dead chickens. 3 hens, 3 roosters. All prime, 6 month old, healthy, sweet, beautiful birds. Dead because people are idiots and can't contain their dogs.
I'm so sorry. We suffered a dog attack many years ago, it's an unpleasant sight. I hope you're able to prevent future attacks and your remaining birds are okay.

Deb, my husband helps with the chickens and does all the construction...but he doesn't know how many we have because he doesn't want to know! Hahaha he did ask me the other day how many roosters I have. I asked him if he really wanted to know....just like when he wants to know how much I paid for my shoes! I tell him not to worry his pretty little head! :D

Ron, congrats on the fancy, pancy birds.

Well, my great chicken day didn't end so well.....we were working on one of the coops most of the day, then I sat and watched chicken tv. Went in to finish the lasagna and get our own dinner going and when my husband went to put everyone to bed, the little Marans cockerel was missing! Can't find the little guy anywhere! Last I saw the three they were with several of the other chickens on the olive orchard side of the coops. Something must have got him right as it was getting dark although I can't find any feathers, he was small enough to be carried off. Out of 6, 3 lost to black mold and one to predators.....these last two better make it!

I never want to do this ever again. I have 3 dogs and they are very well trained and respectful of the chickens. I dont' understand why people can't contain their dogs. Mine NEVER get a chance to get loose. It boggles my mind that people are so careless.

The good news is that I found the black copper Maran roo hiding in the empty pool in the back yard. Poor guy was shoved into a crack between the stairs and the wall. I put him and his blue girl in the barn together. Sad part is that there was another gorgeous egg in the lower nest, most likely laid by a now deceased hen.

Oh NOOOO. I am so sorry. That is just awful...some people are just clueless. I hate it when my friends or customers come over with dogs...Really! They say " my dogs won't eat your chicken" as the dog is running around chasing my chickens. They think it is so cute to watch there dog run around my property...it's not cute AT ALL. Stressing out my chicken and eating eggs out of my nesting boxes... RUDE!
I am very sorry for your loss :(. Molly

Hey, anyone have a suggestion on where to get cheap bubble wrap? I have to ship some eggs tomorrow and I have run out of what I had saved up from our various amazon and other purchases. Thanks!

Sometimes I feel as if I'm the only good dog owner for miles! It is really not hard to have a well behaved, contained animal. Sprocket, my chihuahua, might pop a bird in the air if they are in his path but he doesn't chase them maliciously. Gunner and Mikey pretty much ignore the birds when they are out and about.
