I'm looking for a breeder for Belgian Cuckoo Malines ( Meshels).

Recognized in 1898. They were bred in the USA once imported. The bird is a good dual purpose bird that makes a good table bird because the extra down allows the fat to be distributed thru the meat instead of just under the skin.

I saw that they are still bred in Belgium and the Netherlands and in the UK and that there may be aCalifornia breeder.

Do any of your folks here know where I could acquire eggs or hatch?

Hi NanaKat!

It is nice to have you here. I do not know of any CA Breeders of these. I will look them up to see what they are. I do like the name and am interested in good meat chickens.

Did you start a thread about them? You can then put the link to the thread in your signature line.

Please let us know if you find them!

Ron

Thank you Ron. The breed has been discussed on the Heritage thread and in the Rare bird thread. I found the info on a possible California breeder in the Breeds section. So far, I'm not having any luck getting a response from the one email addy I had. Will keep searching and will start a thread on the breed in the breed section. Thank you for the suggestion.
