My Dad had a Colt 45 replica pistol set with the quick draw holster. One year during Dove season, some hunters were on our property without permission. Dad strapped on the gun belt and jumped onto the tractor. When we got to the place where the hunters were, they started arguing with him! He pulled out the pistol said "I hope we aren't going to have any trouble now?" They said "No Sir" and left promptly. Those things look like canons!

I hope you get the dog before it gets more of you Chickens.

I hope I get it too. I really love dogs. I love my own, I love other dogs. But a dog in my yard, stalking my chickens is a predator, not a pet.

I am not a heartless person, my own dogs are like my kids. I just am sick and tired of this. I am a responsible pet owner and I will not stand for idiots getting away with this.

You need to protect your property and yourself too. You never know when a Dog like that will go after a person. It has happened here in Woodland too. A couple of years ago, a pit Bull just outside of Woodland Clamped onto a Horses head. The Sheriff(Animal Control) had to shoot the dog to get it to let go of the hose. I think the horse died too.

I don't understand why it is so difficult to keep your dog contained. I have 3, and they don't go anywhere.

I don't get it either.

Even if you don't think you should keep your animal in your yard - the liability issue if your dog hurts someone is HUGE!

ahhh I am so angry.

I saw my silkie roo out in the pasture when he was suppose to be in the barn today. I went out to get him and my neighbors tan pitbull dog is stalking him the grass! It ran back when it saw me but I am livid. Got the .45 loaded and ready for when I need it.

Lucky the dog ran away...for the you, the chicken and the dog (I wish dog owners be more responsible). Hopefully he doesn't come back, but keep that .45 handy. Did you hear about the 5 dogs that attacked a guy's chickens in the Oroville area? He shot and killed 3. Apparently it was the 2nd time they had gone after his birds. I can't remember exactly, but I think there were 17 dead birds and more injured.

edited to add: I also decided to skin because the cockerels are "black" and full of pin feathers due to their age. I didn't want to wait until they were older (to avoid pin feathers). Skinless is fine with me with these cockerels.

I haven't heard that story but that is really sad. Too bad he didn't get the other 2 dogs. I actually didn't even see the dog until I was running in its direction. I was running a big circle around my stupid silkie roo to encourage him to go back to the barn. Then I saw the dog about 10 feet from me crouched in the grass. It woofed and ran back through the fence. I scooped up my bird and yelled in the direction of their house.

Good Job!

Skinning is a great way to go. The black pin feathers Don't bother me. With white feathered chickens, they are still there, you just don't see them as easily. I just left them when I processed the Partridge Rocks. They came out easily before I cooked them--I used tweezers.

I have a Pene starting to Crow, so he will have to go live in the Garage soon. He sounds so funny!

are you in a open area. I would fire of some warning shots to let them know you are serious.
