California - Northern

I haven't heard that story but that is really sad. Too bad he didn't get the other 2 dogs. I actually didn't even see the dog until I was running in its direction. I was running a big circle around my stupid silkie roo to encourage him to go back to the barn. Then I saw the dog about 10 feet from me crouched in the grass. It woofed and ran back through the fence. I scooped up my bird and yelled in the direction of their house.
Can you block off where it is getting through the fence?

are you in a open area. I would fire of some warning shots to let them know you are serious.
Its not really open. Its a neighborhood of ranchettes so I am pretty close to my own neighbors.

They are getting under the polytape. We are putting up 2 more strands today so its closed to the ground and hopefully that will stop them. We will be fencing it with no climb ASAP.

ohh . the chicks wont be here till Spring.

Black Penedesenca and a few partridge from Sand Hill

I have 2 dozen partridge penedesenca eggs being shipped to Ron soon I think.

Sand Hill is a small heritage type hatchery that does rare breeds and common. not always show quality but they have many of the breeds that are real hard to find. they also sell rare fruit and veggie seeds. It is just a few people though so hard to pin them down

Jason, I hope your chicks arrive safe. What did you order? I forgot!

It is still important for the eggs to be shipped safely too. It is not as heart breaking when the eggs come broken but it is terrible too. Eggs that get shipped to the wrong place can hurt the hatch rate also.

The work that Sand hill does is very valuable. I am impressed that they are still in business with the recession. A place like this went out of business several(or more) years ago. The breeds were split up to different places. That is how McMurray got SG Dorkings and a couple of others. I think Urch and a couple of other Chicken Breeders got some too.

Edited to add: Thank You Molly for your good shipping wishes!
