Do you have hatching eggs? These look like great "Dual Purpose" Ducks. I will have space in a bit over two weeks.
You have to buy the Golden Feather membership. Go to the Store here. I just bought a year membership last week.

Thanks for posting this morning!

Yay found it! Thanks!

But if you keep one Marans roo and you get some colored egg layers, you could get your OE layers.

Just a thought.
I have already been there and passed on it. I have 2 EEs. I have too few hens with roosters. I need a Buff Orp roo to cover my Buffs. If I have a Buff Orp, Bantam Wyandotte and Marans rooster covering my Orps and EEs- I won't know who the 'father' is. I do not have breeding pens and no plans on that for now- we have to work on building a better main coop first. At least my eliminating the floater Marans rooster- I am down to 2 roosters and that are not lady aggressive. My Marans roo is nice to the ladies but he makes darn sure he is mounting them all. lol I do not want to hassle with hatching Buff eggs not knowing who the dad is. Unless I am missing something lol. I'd love to make my own OE- but I don't think my time for that is right now.

Quote: I don't understand it either. I really want to learn it all though. Trisha's good at it. I cheat and click the button that says show examples. Then you choose the rooster and the hen that way - and it changes all the genetic stuff for you.

I solve that problem by hatching all year long....

Ya, me too. Speaking of which, I gotta lock some eggs down.
I am considering buying some Silver Appleyard hatching eggs and begging one of you all to hatch them for me.

Duck math works similar to chicken math.

If I ever get ducks, that's the kind I'm getting. No pond here though.

Have a great Hatch!

I had a batch hatch early and some were pipping when I moved them to lockdown. All of the pipped ones still hatched.

Ah nice the cheater method was helpful but I don't fully understand the result. It looks like a crapshoot still. So basically it could go several ways lol!

This was our first year with ducks too. I know better what I want. I will let the current ducks age out or slowly rehome over the years. I am pretty sure I want to get rid of my Buffs. We'd like to do Welsh Harlequin and Silver Appleyards and eventually possibly just one of those. We'll see how it goes. We love the ducks though. :D
