Yay for duckies! Cayugas? Those critters loved that pumpkin!

LOL!!! How old are the Bully Brothers? I have 4 black Langshan boys that are 18 weeks old and not showing any signs of hormones, yet. The hens just have to look at them and they run. I am finding out that Langshans are very slow developing which is good for me. As long as they aren't crowing, they can stay here.OK, teenage cockerels are crazy sons of a guns! The "Bully Brothers" have my hens hiding all day! Even Big Daddy can't keep control of them. I had to lock my Polish back up (I let them free range this time of year) because they can catch the Polish and these boys are HUGE! Way to big to be on those girls.....they're even after the 8 weeks old babies. One hen ran for me trying to get away, right between my legs, one of the BB's right behind her, I close my legs to grab him and he slips through unfazed and the chase continues!
I was putting everyone away tonight and found two girls wanting to come in but didn't want to until the Bully Brothers were in bed so I force one of the hens in and both the boys jump her, I pull them off and give them both a toss and right back they come so I grab them both and throw them in the grow out pen and they start mating each other! Good grief!I sold two other cockerels from the same hatch but they were the sweet ones of course.![]()

Quote: They're 6 months old. One started a few weeks ago but Big Daddy was keeping him in line, the other just started joining in couple of days ago. The one I sold Sunday was a perfect gentleman and didn't hang with these two.
They're on Craigslist, I had 4 and have these two left. Gang mating isn't tolerated here either...that's why they're in the grow out pen. We're leaving for Hawaii next Monday so I'm hoping they go by then. They're really unusual looking, all white with some gold, one has a pea comb with beard and muffs and the other has a regular comb. They're really big boys too. They'll be good roos when their hormones settle down. One already calls the other chickens when he finds food....sits there with his head down waiting for someone to come check it out and no one comes! That's not good - gang mating wouldn't be tolerated here. Time for the bad boys to find a new home, or be invited to dinner.
He likes to hang with me when I sit in my chicken chair.![]()
Quote: I care about egg color so I don't care who covers the girls, Ameraucana or Marans, I want dark green eggs. I do care about Polish breeding only Polish so they're penned. And I can usually tell who the mom's are, I've only kept my Ameraucana roo so I know who the father is but not the moms. When the pullets lay eggs I can pretty much tell who mom was by the color of the eggs as well as their feather colors....although I was wondering where the white cockerels came from and according to the calculator, it's my RIR????
I'm just saying that you could have different breed roos covering the same hens (if you have enough to tolerate 2 roos) if you're looking for egg color and not breeding to the SOP. I'm not showing, I'm playing and I have enough hens now to have two roos......of course, I didn't get a Marans roo....that only happens when you want one!I know you ended up with an unfair amount of roos.![]()
