Alright, here's my welsummer rooster at 6 months. He has some depth to his chest, but hasn't filled in yet.

And here he is at 2 1/2 years old. See how much deeper (stockier) his chest is?
Kelly your last picture looks like my place in the winter.

holy crap papa that is a big box!
I'm opening it now, looks like many eggs.

If you print your lables off online, you will get 10% or more sometimes off your shipping, if you care, noticed you didn't use that service. Let me know if you need info on it, click and ship is awesome.
ha ha. i know that was what I had on hand. i realized how much cheaper it was to ship with my own leftover boxes. my PO never has the standard priority boxes of the right size. how do you do the postage? do you have to have a scale? would love to save money and be able to do it at home! yeah, i sent extras because fertility has dropped in a lot of my breeds. noticed it first with jubilees. hope they develop for you!! let me know how it goes. :-)

Deb is gonna try and hatch some white empordanesa eggs for me. she showed me the pic and they look nice . Medium terra cotta brown it appears. she said they look darker in person though not near as dark as her Maran eggs.
Monday my friend is shipping me another dozen. Ron gave me a good idea on the car adapter for the bator if I need it just in case we move.
We are scheduled to close on the 17th but sign on the 15th....

Hi fellow Norcal BYCers,
I need your wisdom on a pressing issue. We have a wrongly sexed Australorp that is 3.5 mo old that we must get rid of. Our city does not allow rooster and nor do our neighboring cities. Our neighbor HATES roosters and he has already filed a complaint. I cannot find any humane society to take it over, nor any nearby farms. I am at my wit's end, and even if I am willing to eat it, I cannot even find a slaughter house to do this. What should I do? Knock it out and bury in my backyard? Thanks!

Put it on Craigslist... It will be gone in no time.. ;). Molly

ahh! See, I'm loud people remember me at least! I was not the Hispanic guy with the award winning roosters. I was the dirty blond chick in the front. Next to the Japaneses guy who snuck out to get food.

Now which one were you?

Turkeys are a bit of a hassle, but i love them right now. They really Will NOT go to bed, they roost on the top of the coop and have to be hand put away every night. I have a roosting bar ( OK its the spa cover bar, but who is counting) they like to sit on, I'm thinking about making a cage to go over it and seeing if they will sleep there. Just not sure how I explain turkeys watching TV till all hours to the guests...) . I was feeling poorly yesterday and watching old reruns of coach, They were outside watching too, they did NOT like his redheaded wife, kept complaining when she came on.I guess they are not as color blind as one would think.

Oh! about the fish. Apparently not all tilepia are 100% illegal to sell. Fish and game is worried they will get loose and out compete the local fish. So they made some types illegal, some types illegal to sell , and some types they just complain if stores have them. Mario's crazy fish guy friend has the low down on what type is what. Crazy fish guy is a aquaponics nut who used to be a hobbyist and is now doing seminars and growing lettuce comically with his fish poop. ( http://www.fishnetaquaponics.com/) He is a lot of fun. he used to do tours of peoples set ups before he went pro, that is where we saw the 3 tier IBC fish set up I want to try next year. If we get solar so we can afford to heat stuff, I want one tier to be freshwater shrimp! The ones you can grow taste ammmmazing. So many plans, so little all other things needed beside plans :D.

I think its silly, however, because even the very cold tolerant ones die off in California outside even when they have help, let alone when they are wild. Clearly fish and game guys have not tried to keep these suckers alive. The only thing I can think of is maybe they are afraid they will stop spawning or eat babies, because they are not going to be out in our water in the winter and make it to spring.

I can't believe there are over 10,000 posts. (silly smiley won't work!) This thread was practically dead before Ron came along.

Chiquita, I don't remember seeing you. I remember the Marans questions. I know Pete from a class. I was the one stalking Walt most of the day, asking a zillion questions.

I had 2 RP turkeys from the animal shelter. I love your description because that's just how they are. I adored how friendly they were, loved the sounds they made. One died in the coop when she got her head stuck in a bucket. The other left one day with the wild turkeys. When I figure out how to keep them home without keeping them cooped or killing them, I'll get more.

Thanks so much for the tilapia info! Yeah the poop part is gross. No eating fish from China.
So, they have to be kept warm in the winter? I was hoping they would be easy to raise. Anything that dies easily does not make it long around here.

Our local feed store uses pellets for pellet stoves, instead of Dry Den in the stock tanks with the chicks. They say the wood pellets are cheaper and don't have anything added to them but I really like the Dry Den though. The first few days I cover them with the non-slip shelf paper for travel trailers, I worry about them slipping on the pellets at first. I've never had a problem with spraddle leg using the pellets, I think it helps strengthen their legs.
