So DH was working outside when the hawk attacked my hen.. Thankfully he was listening when it happened and wasn't working with a saw, concrete drill or other power equipment. I was inside making the kids a snack.

Here's his current project...

We don't have any shade near our pool... every temporary shade umbrella, gazebo, etc has blown away in the wind despite our best efforts (we live on a hill and get some good gusts). I don't think this will blow away, LOL. The big beam is around 20 feet long and weighs a ton. I can't believe DH got the big beams up there by himself using ladders and blocks of wood. I helped moving ladders and such, but I can barely lift one end of those beams a few inches by myself.

Right now there's just some of the frame work up, but it'll eventually be fully roofed with a barbecue and table area under it...someday LOL. This is a big project for DH to do by himself. Next step is to pour the concrete footings around the posts...no way is it going to blow away then...I think our house will go first, LOL.

wow impressive

While doing morning chores I found the first blue orp bantam egg. That got me curious if our partridge rock bantam was laying. Sure enough I found a little egg, stirred up the shavings and I found another one. We aren't sure how old they are, we got them from a local Silkie breeder who hatched out some BYC swap eggs.

I have been trying for 3 hours to get the picture I took today. Worked at first but I kept losing the post while trying to add next photo. It now says they are not a jpg or png and won't work

They are not as cute as all the new babies I've been seeing lately anyway.

Trisha Im sorry to hear about that beautiful girl getting attacked by a stupid hawk! I hope she has a speedy recovery and lays more eggs than she ever has before!:D
And that gazebo is gonna be amazing! Yea your husband is really a true boss to have done all that himself. I take my hat off to him.
How far deep did those posts have to go? Is Like to get my hands dirty soon on a barn project, those posts look like they could be good structure posts for a nice sized building.

OR4-hmom if you use photobucket to posts puctures, I've found it a lot less hassling. Just paste the html link, bam! Done!

I put lights in my coops today! Ron, thanks for sparking me to do this. I've been meaning to do that for awhile now. And today when I read what you posted to Cheryl, it put me in action! Thank you bro! I hope we start getting more eggs now. Kinda hard to see, but it lit just enough to provide some supplemental lighting
