Oh I love them how cute! That's why I always end up with all those cockerels, no willpower against chicks!!
Me, too! That's how I've ended up with the eclectic flock that I have! And my 11 year old daughter is even worse when it comes to bringing home chicks/chickens. She wants one of every kind she sees! Of course, I could always say no and sometimes I do.

I have discovered that the extra Langshan cockerels do taste very good roasted, in soup, etc. I never thought that I would be able to see them killed, help process them, and then cook & eat them but I did! It was the best chicken that I've ever eaten!

I want one of every breed too. I guess it's good that I live in town and have to limit myself to 12 chickens haha.

How much for 10?
I'll have to think about that! But first mine have to get old enough to lay eggs & breed before I have hatching eggs/chicks to sell! They are a slow maturing breed. I haven't had a single Langshan cockerel crow before 20 weeks of age. They are too busy growing big in size, I guess!

I bought 3 Cochin chicks last summer, the most beautiful chicks ever, one splash, blue and black. They turned out to be all cockerels!! What bad luck I have :(

Ahhh, I've seen baby campine cocerels give it a go at 16 days of age. Pretty pathetic and you have to be standing by the brooder, but they get up on their little toes, stretch out for all their worth and let loose, LOL.

I'm glad that these guys are slow to mature. Once they crow, they have to move to my friend's farm which is one more step down the road towards being processed. I need to get out to the farm some time this week or next while the weather is still nice and take a look at the cockerels we have. We are going to narrow the group down to 3 or 4 cockerels for breeding and the rest will be processed or sold. Choosing is not my favorite job. I always second guess my choices which is very counterproductive if they have already taken the short walk down the cone & towards the light.

I'll do my best to get you only pullets. I'm getting pretty good at picking out the cockerels. Langshans are a tall standing breed anyway and the little boys start standing taller at a very young age.

I picked the cutest ones which wasn't the wisest choice.
