Thanks for all the bamboo Molly!

And Jason, I think I owe you my son as an indentured servant for all your work!
(I couldn't fit DH & one of the clumps all in the same shot)

But we got it all unloaded and planted already (and by me, I mean DH

Wow, love it!!!!! I'd love to get me some of that

to go with Deann's photo of CL x pene cross eggs, here's Amelia's latest portrait, officially 19 weeks old today:

and just for the heck of it, here is the lovely Ethel, one of my cuckoo marans, who are now 30 weeks old & still not laying -- BUT she did a bit of a squat today for the first time, so maybe they're close! she's perched on my leg, hoping for a handout of treats:

can't wait for eggs!!
She has turned out to be a nice looking girl. I wish I documented how old my girls started to lay, but if memory serves me, they were 6-6.5 months old. Her comb is still pretty light, I'd say she it'll be a while yet before she lays. Keep us posted.

Bad picture but after getting home from seeing Deb and Molly. Molly you truly have a nice set up. even after all the rain.
I finally got a Crele penedesenca egg today. I have no idea which one laid it as I have 5 hens that all look way past ready lol.
My rooster seems to like all the hens so I am going to start trial hatching once I get a few more.

That is really good news!

Hey everyone I need some help. Over Christmas my uncles sister in law who is a vet mentioned she has a patient with a problem. She has 20 peacocks and a few Icelandic ponies. She is an older women that is on the brink of having to go into assisted living. Her son hates peafowl and unhappy things happened to them when she last went into the hospital. So I'm looking for people who might be interested in adopting some on short notice. I don't have all the details, know when it might happen, or know what type of peas they are even.
If you know anyone that has always wanted peas but never did it and might be interested let me know. My ERM semi aunt in law is a great person who gets involved in rehoming a lot of animals and has a lot of heart. She always comes to Christmas menagerie of babies th animals she's caring for while they find a new home.
So tempting!!

House update. after snow almost whipped out the chance of us getting the place.
Our realtor made it happen !!! we got our Roof Cert and will get our place !
Congrats!!!! great news.

OMG, just realized... this is my 500th post..... Do I get a prize?

all five of my younger birds (two basques, two CLs, and amelia) are still a good bit smaller in size than the 30-week-olds (and the two sussexes, who are 4 weeks younger than the other "older" birds but just as large), with very light combs, so they don't seem ready to lay any time soon -- but the big girls might start, now that the sun's out a wee bit more again!

and similarly SO tempted by the idea of some peafowl... but no place to house them at this point.
