Quote: This was one of my hatchery "Americana" (that's the breed they said she was, I know there's no "i" in Ameraucana) chickens who laid beautiful blue egg. I had 4 that looked just like this and they all laid really blue eggs.

Does anyone remember the Huel Howser show where they showed the fields of Marigolds that were grown for commercial chicken feed to give the yokes color?
Absolutely beautiful eggs! That was the color 2 of mine laid 25 yrs ago. How long ago did you have these? Do you remember the hatchery?

Didn't see the marigold show, but I've heard about adding carotiniods to the feeds. Did you hear that Huel Howser died about a week ago? He wasn't very old. 67 or so.
This was only about three years ago. I hatched a black hen from one of these girls and she laid the same blue color but I lost her last year and never hatched any of her eggs. I think the feed store buys from McMurray.

I heard that Huel Howser died. So sad, we loved watching his shows. Loved to laugh at his overzelousness and were very sad to hear he passed. I guess he had cancer but didn't want anyone to know.

Judging on Sat. starts at 9am and will probably go most the day.  Jr champion row is at 5pm and the building closes at 5:30.  I'm going to be all over that show.............I have 31 birds entered (less anyone I scratch).  I'm a little too critical of my own though, I almost scratched the campine that won Ch continental at the last show because I didn't like his condition.  He was a bit rough looking to me.  I scratched my BCM cockerel for the same reason and he looked as good as the ones that were shown............

WOW Deb, good Luck! I wish I wasn't so sick. I would love to go...

Did I miss what breed the free $100 rooster is? Pene? We got a free $12K boat a few years back. Should be warming up for you, when I left work tonight I was surprised how warm the air was after the freezing cold we've had forever. Don't forget to post pictures.
white empordanesa rooster to replace the one the hawk killed. 38.00 to ship a empty box there 62.00 to get it back.
Did not get to get him last night so my wife will this morning.
I have my grow up run in the garage. He will be there a few days till I get them all moved this weekend ( hopefully)

Chickee.... I so want to get some of them eggs
I can fix you up once the girls pick-up laying. Which eggs are you interested in? My bantam BLRW, bantam Polish and bantam buff Brahmas are laying like crazy, but the LF BLRWs are only giving me a couple brown eggs every other day, and only one of the EE girls is laying every couple of days.

Speaking of it, when are we talking about meeting up? I don't remember the name of the place from last year, but the meeet up was fun. I think sat is the best day. We will be there early to steal all the eggs. But deb was wanting not to miss the judging, is it all day saturday?
Also
Muffler
