Does anyone know about how long the scabs from dubbing will stay on?

Dubbing take about 3 weeks to heal and might still look white/pink before i heal completly

Different reasons for dubbing... Some roosters have such a large comb it might get frost bite, others might have issues with visibility if it flopps over and rubbs eye,
If they are show fowl it needs to be done in the rule book. Never seen a judge handle and grade a non dubbed roo

Some like the dubbed look for mini bataman and old english games

Similar to rotwhiller (sp) dubbed tail amongst other dog breeds just make them look right

How many chickens do you have? Do the eggs sales (3/dozen) cover your feed costs?
not many now.
I do not have really any layers anymore. They where all killed.
I plan on having about 30 layers which will be culls from my Empordanesa and penedesenca plus all the other chickens I like but dont breed.
It is hard to tell on the feed as I have a pet wild rabbit that likes the chicken food. Plus the 5 deer that walk into the garage and help themselves.
I figure 1/3 of my food goes to the wild life :)

I almost have enough LF and bantam BLRW eggs collected to start incubating

I haven't fired up my Octagon 20 advance ex (great incubator) in 4 months. I just couldn't wait any longer

Might even throw in some EE eggs from my pure buff Ameraucana hens x pure, Pips & Peeps, wheaten Ameraucana rooster. The offspring lay the prettiest blue and turquoise eggs.
Chickee.... I so want to get some of them eggs

So my free $100 rooster is in West Sac and on his way to Placerville tonight. I stopped at the back door to get the time the transfers get there...
So excited. Have to finish the posts Saturday and the fence Sunday.. I will have to add quick set to the concrete.
At least up here the weather is warming and most of the snow melted. The posts I set last week still look wet.

Quote: This was one of my hatchery "Americana" (that's the breed they said she was, I know there's no "i" in Ameraucana) chickens who laid beautiful blue egg. I had 4 that looked just like this and they all laid really blue eggs.

Does anyone remember the Huel Howser show where they showed the fields of Marigolds that were grown for commercial chicken feed to give the yokes color?
