Quote: I bought 6+ for 15 dollars and shipping and got a message saying that she had 7 because she only got one egg on the last day. She asked me if I wanted to wait a day and have whatever they laid added to the shipment. God was good to me an all three laid and egg on the extra day! I have 10 in the bator on day 6 and they all have something going on in them!
He is a showgirl.................not a SQ, not even a BQ.....................but he's a very sweet boy and would make a nice pet. He has a face that needs a mother to love it. He popped out of some shipped eggs that I bought.
I took a picture tonight of one of the eggs I am incubating. This is day 6 for them and you can see very nice development. Feel free to use the picture in your daughters report if you want: This is a Blue Egg Layer from the University of Arkansas. It is a new breed created from Leghorns and Araucanas
I think I'm safe in "borrowing" this picture from my friend Mary. These are my wellie babies that she hatched for me while we were out of town. #5 just hatched last night, so it's not pictured yet. From markings (not 100%) it looks like 2-3 are pullets and 1 looks like a cockerel.

Cheryl, I wanted to compliment the gorgeous egg carton that you posted the other day. As someone else said, "nice presentation"! I am still in aww that you give them to neighbors instead of selling them. I wondered what your business was since it wasn't "fresh eggs" for eating........Then I looked up your website!
I am totally in love with your lavendar marans. Oh my goodness are they pretty. The hens have such a sweet face and those big eyes. I'm really trying not to get new breeds, but a couple of those girls would look mighty nice in my mixed flock of egg layers. Speaking of which, what color are their eggs? And for future reference, do you sell hatching eggs, chicks and/or adults?
I know I havent been her for a while but over 1200 posts since the last time!!!!!!
I cant believe it has been that long. Now i have to do tons of catch up to see what is going on. We have been busy with a few house projects , ugh.. Just got a few new chickens in the mail yesterday and I have chicks growing up and some in the incubator That is what is going on here right now. We are enjoying the good weather and trying to take advantage of the dry days when we can. I lost my Black Silkie Rooster and dont have a back up boy so had a couple young cockerels shipped to me along with a hen and one that is hopefully a pullet
I love this Northern Ca thread but have a hard time keeping up so I read a lot when i can and dont respond as much as I would like to but want to say that i love reading about your flocks and seeing the pictures. Since I only have Silkies this is where I get to see all the other beautiful breeds I spend a lot of time talking myself out of

I do the same thing...try to read and keep up but don't get to respond and post as much as I'd like. I'm glad there is an avid silkie breeder on this thread, because you can never see enough silkie pictures. (I think I'm subscribed to 3 or 4 silkie threads-LOL)
Congratulations on your new black silkies. They look very NICE. Your partridge silkies are great. Can you tell yet if they have boy or girl feather coloring?
Here's to lots of pullets=momma partridge silkies!
