Wow, I've had roosters that would fight like that, but never females. I'm sorry and hope that they heal quick and that it doesn't happen again.

X2 sorry to here...

Whoa! Welcome to all the new faces!

Silkies for ever- your poor sweet chick! Hope she heals fast!

My little chick is doing wonderful!
400

She is eating and drinking like all the others. Preening. Can track movement and run away from me so it appears that she can see from both eyes. Both eyes are open. Still slightly off and swollen but really improving. Her head is healing.

I did neosporin on her head. Vetericyn drops in her eyes. That's really it. And didn't separate her from all her sibs but kept an eye on the pecking. The red brooder light was good in this case because it makes everything red so it didn't seem to scream "peck me!" To all the others lol.

Awesome news. Glad your chick is recovering

Ahhh Ron I'm so sorry to reading about your wounded chicken! Any updates?

And thanks everyone. I am so excited that she is fine. I will be heartbroken if she is a he. Not only can we not keep it but no one is going to want an ugly rooster unless its to eat lol.

Hi all!! Had my 1st successful hatch this morning!! She's so cute! She's Ameraucana/ brahma... Question: if she doesn't get a buddy tomorrow out of the staggering hatch, would it be ok to put my tiny silkie chick with her so she's not lonely ? The silkies weren't hatched by me. Could that cause problems?

*I* think they'll be fine. I've added a chick or two to slightly older chicks I've purchased from feed storews, more than once.

Congratulations!

Yes but watch them. There have been weird attacks this week.
