waititout - I have welsummers, but I have a short waiting list right now. Waiting on all of my girls to get back to laying from their molts.

Ron - how did your hatch go? I hatched 6 out of 6 wellies.

Cool, please add me to your list. Between your list and Ron's, I may be in luck!

Yes, Your are on my list for a Marans(FBCM) pullet.

Are you interested in other dark egg layers?

I have Crele Pene eggs in my incubator. I removed a clear but 7 are still in there. 1 might be a blood ring and is on my watch list.

These are auto sexing so I should be able to figure out gender at hatch.

Auto sexing would definitely be nice! For some reason I am partial to "chunkier" looking birds though. My 5 feed store pullets will be a year old this spring and I was hoping to trade a few of them in for some "choice" breeds. (Except my two favorites, that is.) I am limited on space (unfortunately-or fortunately if you ask my husband's opinion) otherwise I would probably have a few of each variety. Oh no, sounds like the Noah's arc of chickens!

OK, I need to buy an incubator. I have too many chick orders to rely on my broodies, although I have 2 that I'm pretty sure will commit in the next couple of weeks, the orders are getting more and more so if I want to do this right I need to bite the bullet and buy one.

I had a Little Giant with a turner but it needed constant attention to keep the humidity correct and during lockdown it was a nightmare! As soon as the last chick hatched I cleaned it up, put it on Craigslist and within an hour it was gone! Swearing I'd never incubate again....after getting up in the middle of night to check on chicks, fell and broke my knee but went back to bed, woke up in writhing pain but couldn't remember a thing about how it happened I was so tired from babysitting that incubator for a week!!!

So I want a more reliable, less fussy incubator. I want to have maybe a capacity of about 36????

I'd like all and any opinions on this. Like, what's your favorite incubator for about 3 dozen eggs (if that's a size they make) and why? What is your favorite size incubator and how many eggs do you normally set at a time. I don't think I'm interested in staggered hatches so is it better to have 2 sizes of incubators or run a not full one? What size would you recommend?

AND....do you or do you know anyone who has one for sale? I went to the Brinsea site but it looks like they're incubators are all for smaller batches? I'm going to go back and look but wanted to get this question on here.

Thanks ahead of time!

I have had many different ones, by far I loved by sportsman 1502 but that held 250+ eggs I think - with everything included runs about $1000. I use my hovabators mostly for turning/keeping eggs till I incubate but if I were to reccomend one for you it would be the one is use almost daily.

The Rcom is my favorite, it is very similar to a brinsea in that it's a set it and forget it, digital wiz! I'm sure you'd be happy with either maker. If you want to call me next week or even see mine, PM me

Here is the link for the R-com http://www.jmtdistributors.com/r-com-50-digital-egg-incubator-quot-coming-soonqu50.html

The new digital hovabators I've also hatched in and I think they are great, you just have to watch them more often, making sure water levels are correct etc, while the rcom/sportsman/brinsea all have auto water adjusters for hydration needs. Hope that helps
