California - Northern

Good advice! I did this before and it worked.

Good luck!

Can you get some tweezers and pick some of it out. Its must have a blockage...or soften the food with drops of water, keeping very careful not to get it in her nose. Also try massaging the clump and rubbing her throat downwards to encourage her to swallow. Good luck!
Thanks. I did what you said, and the chick is peeping, and moving around. I have her under a heat lamp away from momma and it's siblings. Poor thing. It is the one that had it's wing picked to flesh. So much trauma.
I'm going to give her coconut oil in hopes of loosening anything else that is in there.

Auto sexing would definitely be nice! For some reason I am partial to "chunkier" looking birds though. My 5 feed store pullets will be a year old this spring and I was hoping to trade a few of them in for some "choice" breeds. (Except my two favorites, that is.) I am limited on space (unfortunately-or fortunately if you ask my husband's opinion) otherwise I would probably have a few of each variety. Oh no, sounds like the Noah's arc of chickens!
my welsummer's where as thin as a penedesenca. maybe try a Barnevelder as well?

Pictures of the Silver Sebright roo remind me so much of the two I had to rehome. Gosh I loved those boys! Alex and George. Alex used to kick-box George whenever George got too big for his feathers and tried to flog me. Alex knew who was Boss, but George kept trying to test me.

My guy friends thought it was a hoot when George flogged their ankles. They used to egg him on!

Now I have poor Alice, the only Silver Sebright in my flock. She's too fast for the LF roosters, Carl and Domino - she'll just up and fly over them. Alas, no fertilized eggs from Alice.

Those little Sebright roosters are just so loud!
:(

They are? Oh man, I do love their speckled eggs! I didn't realize Barnevelder's eggs were dark, silly me. They are so gorgeous! Do you know who breeds them here in Nor Cal?
Not quite as dark but still pretty nice. My Barnevelder x Ameraucana crosses through a nice olive egg.

Kelly breeds them to in Colfax. Deann has some in Novato
