Does he teach at a Public school? If so there is a National, State and Local one. There should a President of the Local.

The National one has a 1 million insurance policy to help teachers when charged with things like this. It is the NEA. If he teaches at a Private School then he has to hire his own Attorney. If so, maybe set up a Legal fund and a face book to promote it?

My Prayers are with you guys!

My mom had a representative from the district office, I think. Does he have pictures of himself? Make sure he's documenting -everything-. Pressing charges seems like a good idea, but he should probably get advice from a representive before doing that. I hope everything is going well.

We have to take our very beloved cat to the vet today. His eyes are irritated, goopy and swollen with red membrane at times. Other times they look better. This has been going on for about a week. He also had a sore near the base of his tail. It healed, but then another small one showed up. That scabbed over but now there's another. They look like drained abscesses to me (craters that are red and wet) no puss or anything. He licks at them. We didn't take him to the vet with the first one because I usually trust cats to take care of that kind of thing on their own. But now that we've seen there's more we're definitely taking him. He was wormed about a month ago and has been on flea treatment for a long time. I did pull a tick out of him a earlier this week but I got the head and the site of the bite looks fine. I don't know! I love this cat so much.

The other problem is we have money - but it's what we saved to get materials for the chicken coop. And I just got the text our chicks shipped today! If the vet costs too much we're going to have close to thirty chickens living with us in the house indefinitely.

Hey all, I'm new to keeping chickens and my husband and I just picked up our first 3 girls from Miss Molly this evening. We picked up 3 cream legbar chicks, 2 typical coloration and one white girl. One of the girls looks like she is going to have the most amazing crest. Yeah, this is the start of an addiction...

Welcome to the coop! This is a really great group.

They need to stay warm for 6 weeks. You can make a low cost grow out pen for them for after 6 weeks and take more time building the permanent one.

I hope the cat is ok!

Thank you, that's a good option. At the vet now. They said they need to open and drain the area of the abscess (caused by a bite I guess), test his eyes and apparently he has a heart murmur :( Poor kitty. He' such a good buddy.

Well Betty has 4 (grafted/adoptive) chicks with her. So far so good. She moves for them to climb under. She isn't mean. She eats their poop (gross- please tell me thats normal?). She makes an odd purring noise to them- like a coo. But what she is not doing yet is showing them where the food and water is...these chicks are a week old so they need water and food. Tonight I am moving them to the den we set aside for them. Any suggestions or comments?

Good luck with your kitty. It sounds like all the problems are manageable however.
Rons right you have a while before you have to put them outside. Look on cl for building materials, sheds or used coops! You never know what will pop up.
In fact put what you are looking for in the wanted section too maybe you will get bites.

I have not noticed the poop eating. At a week old just put food and water close. The hen won't move for 3 days she is programmed to see what will hatch. But the chicks know what it is and if they can get it will be fine.

She will start moving in a few days.

The Blue Egg layer sage continues!

The one I found still in the shell with now pip stayed in the incubator over night and perked up nicely!

First thing in the morning I checked on the 6 outside and found one cold outside of the ecoglow. I guess they are smaller than most of the ones I hatch. It was cold but its eyes were kind of looking at me, so I put it into the incubator with the last chick to hatch. I took one side off of the ecoglow so that the chicks could make better contact and later set up the big light for them.

The almost dead one was fine and back to normal in a couple of hours and is now back with the others.

They are all doing fine and I have Four Blue ones and 3 Splash ones:

I am off to get them some Chick vitamins and plain yogurt!
