how exciting! Those eggs are gorgeous! How many birds do you have Ron? You seem to have such a beautiful variety.

In my mixed misc shipment of eggs I think I will get an olive egger. bethbug has a dorking roo and oe hen...what would eggs from that mix be like?

The blue egg in the picture is from a Dorking pullet with an Ameracauna roo. The Dorking egg color will not change the color too much so you should get a similar color to the one the mother hen lays.

I am working on keeping it down to a bit over the limit here--10 plus pullets. I need to move a bunch off soon to stay within my limit. I might go to the auction next Sunday.

12 dozen?? Holy cow! I remember meeting someone who wanted "..as many as you got!", unfortunately I only had 3 dozen available at that time.

Pat, will you be breeding Buckeyes? I still get requests for them, so need someone to refer people to.

Hi Kim- yes, I'll be breeding Buckeyes. I've been wanting a flock of them for while now. So fingers are crossed for a good hatch!

That would be fun!  More people involved in the taste test would mean more input on how the Bresse compare with our other breeds raised for meat.  In the taste test that we did last fall, I preferred the Langshan meat over the Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock and Cornish X meat but Monet and my farm friend's family preferred the SPPR meat.  We are planning on breeding both along with the Bresse then doing another taste testing next fall/winter.  We are going to try to raise all 3 breeds as close to the French standard as we can.  It will be interesting to see how they compare.  We may raise a few Marans, too.  I've heard that their meat is excellent!

What taste test? I'd be glad to donate a couple of buckeye cockerels if i have them to spare.
