I was just looking at that one and it looked great, but when I read the very poor reviews about how it isn't accurate I was really disappointed 

I have used one of those. The temperature was pretty accurate, but the hygrometer was off by quite a bit (really high). It also didn't fit in the vent hole of my Hovabator like it is advertised. Had to thread it through the cutout for the turner cord.

Just want to share some egg pics from this past week. My Langshan girls (except for 2 special ones) are all headed to the farm tonight to join the boys. I am so sad that I won't be able to look out my back door and see them. But I do want Langshan babies so have to get the boys and girls together for that to happen!

Darker brown eggs are Langshan eggs and the lighter 3 in the center are Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock eggs


Blue eggs left to right: Cream Legbar, Blue Wheaten Ameraucana, Lavender Ameraucana, Lav Am, and the little fart egg is from my Silver AM, I think!


This is the largest egg (89 g) and the smallest egg (9 g) that my girls have ever given me.

They were laid the same day. The large double yolker is from my Blue Langshan who is still walking like a penguin. She must have some major problems with her reproductive tract. She is eating well and laying so I'm just keeping an eye on her. The little blue egg is from my tiny Silver AM, I think.

Hi guys!! My babies are all doing well I hope yours are, too!! Getting ready to worm the 2nd dose of Wazine tomorrow on my ladies a' layin'. Right after the first treatment I started getting eggs like crazy!! I'm 5/5 like every day now!! I hope this will kill everything! Their stools are getting watery again. Something strange happened today... My White Leghorn, Dolly, laid twice!! She's never done that! Is that common? I don't have xtra lighting & it's very cold & dreary here.

Love the variety you have, great color. Sorry to hear your girl is still walking like a penguin. You could always try an avian vet, but if she is eating , drinking and laying it's kinda odd.

However, it was reading a couple of degrees lower than the Genesis!!! Now I am all confused. So the temp gauge on the unit isn't really very accurate??? UGH!

They vary. I have three, one reads high, one reads low and one is dead on. Like all therm/hygro, they need to be calibrated.

Jersey Giant Folk thank you for your advice. How sad that there was only one survivor and that he was oddly drawn to vegetation.

My birds are all seemingly healthy though one pullet lays wonky eggs a couple of times a week and has trouble figuring out if they should be in the poop tray or the nest box but other than that there are no signs of illness. and I am now getting 6 for 6 2 or 3 times a week. I was going to worm as a part of regular flock care but now I am thinking I can either wait a month until I collect the eggs I am planning to set or, if people thought it was advisable, do the first stage now, collect eggs in three weeks and then do the second stage of worming. Alternatively I can worm tomorrow, again on the 20th then put off setting eggs for about a week and hatch them when my others are a week old. They are all going in a different brooder than the delivered chicks anyway so maybe it isn't that big a deal that they be the exact same age.

Thoughts??


Oh and Ray says "Thanks for the Compliments." He is a very gentlemanly roo...unless you are a peacock and then you best watch out!

Balthazar is still with us. He seems a bit more lively today, but I'm not sure how much of that is wishful thinking. (He has suet-type treat on his beak)





Our Sultan baby. She hates me. A lot.


Cotton is really the only sweet one of the Polish we picked up.


Love his/her blue legs. They're all getting nice real feathers on top of their heads.


This one always looks that grumpy.
