When my chick was scalped I kept her separated but near the others for a day. After that she seemed well enough to let her hang out with them and they left her head alone. I did not blue kote her head (was afraid of getting it in her eyes since the wound all ran together). But her head wound was black the next day mostly so it worked out. Def also keep the non pain killer kind of Neosporin on it too. That really helped the chick heal. It was a flesh wound- skin ripped off. I hope someone has some more advanced advice for you!Thank you, Everyone for the suggestions. I took Amy's and Ron's suggestion about the Blue Kote. Fortunately I live 2 minutes from the Rio Linda feed store (WE FINALLY MOVED TO THE COUNTRY!) and bought the spray bottle of Blue Kote. Both Ebony (and me) look like we smeared blueberries on us. It covered her raw patch real good, but somehow it got on my fingers too. I'll keep her seperate a few days in a covered 2'X4' tractor since that's all I have. She can still see the back pasture where everyone else is free ranging and I think that is what is driving her crazy. I probably shouldn't let her in the coop at night either? I'll try to borrow a cage and put her in the shed or garage. I hope she heals quick too.![]()
