The entry form is on it's way in for Red Bluff. We will be traveling down with 5, still waiting to find out if I'm delivering 4 more when I come home. DH hasn't told me if he's watching bb tournaments and collecting eggs or heading to Redding with us. I'm thinking March Madness will win.

Loaded the bator today, 28 BLRW, 2 bbs orp bantams, and 3 part. rock bantams. I haven't seen a fertile egg from either of the bantams yet but I'll know more in a week. The look on Eric's face was priceless when I told him, "I just made babies!"
 
OK Ron, you mentioned Marradunna Basques yesterday, I read the last 10 pages on the thread looking for someone close. I see that Skyline has them, are they in PA? I would rather find someone closer if I had to order eggs.

Get the eggs from Skyline. He is the inventor of the skyline method of packing hatching eggs and lots of breeders are using it now. I set 15 and hatched 12!

He sells them for 50.00 for 15 plus 15 for shipping.

I had to give up my Rooster or I would be breeding them. I might still if I can get a Roo and a place to keep him(Thanks Kim!). A lot of people follow the Green Fire breeds and since they do not carry them any more they seem to have lost their Shininess(yes that was a Serenity\Firefly reference). They are a fantastic Breed! They do not even Pant when it hits 90 degrees and they never once lifted their wings last summer even when it was over 105. I did nothing special for them except give them shade. The other breeds had fans, shade and misters. I still had two Marans die in the heat.

They are a true dual purpose breed with good feed conversion and they lay close to Sex link rates for fairly dark eggs.

I found the cute, Rio Linda post office this week. Do you work from the Rio Linda PO? I'd be curious to know how they handle shipped eggs-hehe!

It's the perfect area for us because my husbands commute to work is 5 minutes and we're still close to everything. It is zoned AG and I can have all the chickens and roosters I want.

Candle them and look for cracks. Also check the air cells to see how round they are and if you can even see them. If they look ok, Incubate with the turner off for a day. If they look bad, leave the turner off for 3 days. They need to incubate standing big end up.

Also, sniff each egg regularly!
