California - Northern

I actually don't live too far from Trisha, so I made an afternoon egg run out of it. Picked up eggs from Cottonwood, Anderson, and Dunsmuir. She has a great setup, and her roosters are HUGE!
At least they seemed that way to me.

So if I have a broody this time next year when my H and I make our Shasta trip I can make a similar run....if I can convince H of the "need" :) What did you pick up on your other stops?

Quote: It means Basque Hen, so EO Basque Hen is redundant. I could call them Marraduna Basque Hens and that would be a better name for them. Marraduna is the brown barred coloring of this type of Basque Hen. In the Basque language, Hen is like our word Chicken, so the Roosters are also a Basque Hen.

Language barriers are so funny!

Man did I just have a long drawn out hatch!! I had chicks hatch on day 20 through day 23  I attribute it to the power failure and egg cool down for that hour. The last chick had to be helped out and was in rough shape but is just fine this morning :yesss: All but one of the 17 eggs hatched. I have extra chicks if anyone is interested. 4 bantam buff Brahma (show potential) 2 bantam blue laced red Wyandottes (one blue/one splash~ show potential) 2 LF black laced red Wyandottes (Foley x Catt lines) and 2 EEs (turquoise/blue egg layers) available. CLICK ON PHOTO's FOR A CLOSEUP VIEW ~ These are some of the EE chicks that are going to Jason :) Congratulations on a successful hatch. I know it was s long wait. :celebrate :ya Love the line up of Jason's EE babies. They are so cute! :lov e :love

I read in a couple of post about pronunciation.
I'll be sticking with "EO" or Marradunna Basque, there are days when I need "English as a first language" courses. Especially after fair week, 6 days spending 12/16 hours daily listening to birds. I really do enjoy it, some of the little cockerels practicing crowing will get me giggling.

Since only Roo old enough to crow went to Winters to make OEs, It has been very quiet at my place. He had been crowing for a couple of weeks in the Garage and was getting pretty good at it.

The Pullets seem calmer too--a couple of them will eat meal worm treats from my hand now! They are starting to be friendly and not think I am going to kill them.

Silly Chickens....

I'm interested in and EE or two :) getting chicks from missmolly on Sunday. Are you around that day?

I am all atwitter don't know if any of you are college basketball fans but my Gaels just made it to round II in the tournament. Taking on Memphis tomorrow at about 11:45 a.m. on CBS . Both my daughters play in the sports band. Anyway since we are all Northern California people and I know some of you are East Bay folks and thought maybe we could get a little more positive mojo headed out toward Michigan

read this if you have the time and desire, it gives lots of pertinent details about both teams and makes a somewhat surprising prediction.

My DH still hasn't said if he is going to Red Bluff on the 30th, March Madness.
He'll be pulling for the Ducks though, and any CA team playing. He's a Novato transplant.
