Quote: Thank you, I have read it quite a few times but will be rereading it tonight for sure! Do I need to worry about the humidity while I put my hand in there? Do I need to take the incubator into a steamy bathroom for this quick flip?

Get a paper towel and wet it with hot water. Turn the chick and drop the towel in. Humidity will not drop that much.

It depends on how strong it is. It is going to work real hard to get out but will probably be stuck. It is a fine on when to help them and how much. The less you have to help the better.

When everything was done I couldn't tell my Wrong Way Willie from the rest of the hatch.
I did assist after about 20 hours because the respiration seemed shallower. I could see the shell chip moving when it was breathing.

<sigh> From the guides it sounds like I should wait 24 hrs to see if he can zip himself out before intervening? Come on little guy... you can do it!

Great looking additions everyone!

Sounds like lots of new fluffy butts are making there appearance this weekend. Do quail have fluffy butts? Hard to tell when they look like bumblebees.

I lost my dark brahma bantam this afternoon. Going to the Delta coop will be sad without her, she was my greeter. She just kept getting paler and paler, when she passed her face was almost as yellow as her legs.

On a happier note, one of the nest boxes in another coop has a nice new feather lining. When I went out this evening to close them up there were 3 partridge rocks sleeping in nest boxes. I'll see if they mean it before ordering any EO eggs. Can't order before Red Bluff anyway.

DH is thinking he will stay here next weekend, watching basketball and collecting eggs. I can go and look all I want and not have to worry about how bored he is.

I'm sorry about your hen.

Do you know what was wrong?

Update on my hatch: I have a third pip (right way up!) and have officially turned to the beer to help with the anxiety.
