California - Northern

I went to the show today. Got there at 12:15, went to the food seating area. Didn't see a BYC group and didn't recognize anyone as described. Sorry to have missed you all that were there.

I enjoyed looking at the birds. The LF Orps were HUGE! So was the one LF RIR. Lots more bantams than large fowl but still a good show for the drive.

I sooo wanted to go today. Sorry I missed meeting you. DH wanted to start clearing our property to get ready for fire season. I could of gone, but didn't feel comfortable leaving him alone cutting down oak trees an manzanita with a chainsaw. We ended up getting a huge amount of brush cleared amd all the piles burned. We dont have much more time to do this kind of work. It is already drying out and soon it will be too dry to burn brush. DH will also soon be back to work fighting fires. He almost got dispatched to a fire in AZ yesterday.

I am so sore and tired but feel much better that our property is safer from wildfires.

Hi! I'm in the Sutter County area of Norcal and am a new home steader/ duck mommy! I really just came here because a little birdy in my pm box told me too so hello and goodbye :)
welcome! its a fun thread, pop back in on occasion you will looove eeet.

Trisha,
we had a fire of another ind around here last night, a neighbor about 1/4 of a mile aways house burned down. There were ambulances, SIX fire trucks and a zillion police cars blocking the road. They saved the front but I bet its a tear down anyway because the back is toast. I went to offer some condolence eggs but didn't see anyone was a sad day. I saw the insurance guys out there itemizing, so at least they are insured!

Oh, the poor family! I hope no one was hurt! Fires are very common out here and there is a long response time from the fire department. Thankfully several of our nearest neighbors try to keep their properties maintained. Over the last few years, we have been weed eating, mowing and picking up dead branches. But we finally got a chainsaw, so we can really clear out the brush and thin the trees. I will feel much safer once we get the whole property cleaned up more.

But, I still wish I could of made it o the show today:(

holy crap! I have been sick and not eating for 2 weeks. I just went to get dressed and my "almost there" pants were the only ones  left ( the pants you don't get rid of becuse you know someday they will fit)

They fit now! ( mind you, my normal pants did fall down  once this week  from being too big, so I knew somethig was up, lol) at least thas't something for being sick!

Sorry to here you have been sick...NO FUN!
Glad to here your someday pants fit..:)

Question about the feathers on one of my chick's wings. The ~4 outer feathers stick out away from the body by ~1/2" on just one wing, the other is flush against the body. Is this something I should be concerned about? They don't seem to bother him, it seems cosmetic.
