Hatching question

I have a themometer on the floor of the bator, two at mid egg level and one on the top. The ones at mid egg range are dead on. the floor one is a little cooler and the top one is a little warmer. This is what I am going for right?

Pet Rock I would.  Also maybe post on the shipped egg experiment thread and ask wisher and some of the others if  what Flowers' postal carrier said is true or just so much butt coverage.  My boxes had "Fragile live embryos Please hold for pickup " or something like that on the outside but I don't know if they had to request something beyond that.  Don't know how big your town is but I have talked to the people at my post office and told them I was expecting a package and to please hold it.  We have fewer than 5500 people here and I have taught a couple of our PO employes or their kids so they take care of me I hope yours will do the same for you. 

Also did you check the feedback of your egg seller? It helped calm my fears when I did that.  Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice!  I live in a city of around 100,000 people.  Not much personal attention given around here!  I do know several of the clerks in the PO because of shipping for eBay.  Maybe I should ask my postal carrier what she would recommend.

I'm not sure how many eggs the gentleman ships.  He is a breeder in AZ who has raised Langshans for 40 years and had the top birds at the Stockton show.  I contacted him using his info on the show list.  His birds are so gorgeous that I'm willing to take the risk.  I will ask him a little more about how he ships, etc.  He said that he sends them COD.  Does the PO still do that?  Maybe he is planning on using a different carrier.

The PO usually doesn't look at hand written notes to hold packages for pick up. The shipper has to go online and print the label out at USPS.com. While ordering the shipper can select the " hold at PO" service. It's the only way to make sure eggs are held for pick up rather b ouncing around in a mail truck in bad weather all day. But the person who picks up the eggs, might need a gov issued photo Id or at least know the last 4 numbers of the tracking #.

I screwed up a an egg order by not checking the online label info and ended up entering the wrong PO for hold for pick up.....needless to say that mistake sent the eggs on an EPIC cross country trip that took nearly 10 days. I sent the buyer a replacement order of eggs.....

Beautiful color!
Here he is trying to show them where they should lay. This was his makeshift pad we put in between our veggie gardens raised bed while he was in quarantine.

Here's the girls. They had gone in but he went in too and was a little overzealous trying to make the nest perfect so they got out.

Didn't have the right time for the auction and got there when it was ending. But... there was a rooster left behind and the owner didn't want to take it home so we now have our first rooster. Named him "Handsome."

Back in my shipping every day days cod meant ups. Ups and fed ex say they will not ship eggs. But I don't think they check packages. In the 90's there was as a 5 fee for it. Will he let you send him a check instead?

We completed the silkie shed run this weekend. It is open so I'm a little nervous about it. They will be in the shed at night that is predictor proof. I have not seen any possums or raccoons during the day, I suppose we will find out if I'm missing them. We did have the can for a month and saw nothing during the day..

It was so nice getting to see one of my Roosters yesterday! He was in a Pet Carrier and the three hens were in packing boxes. He was talking to them! He is going to be a great Rooster for them.
