California - Northern

One of my one week old chicks is doing a wierd hiccup/gagging thing and hasn't stopped. It's breathing, and makes a peeping sound some of the time. I checked it's throat to make sure there wansn't anything stuck, and it's crop is empty. I also gave it some water/vitamin mix. Any other suggestions? Has anyone seen this before? Here is a video of it.
Well I am of no help in diagnosing but I would like to hear the answer for sure. The video is a big help. I was thinking something else until I saw the video but now I have no idea.

Aw, the HRIRs are so lovely! They look so healthy and wonderful. What are their personalities like?

Looking into the lactobacillus but having a hard time finding it. I have probiotics in their water right now. What about ACV? I would like to get some of the lactobacillus to spray around and give Alice. So... the yogurt and probiotics for now, I do have some Nutridrench and VetRX - should I do anything with either or those? Or just wait and give her the Oxine Spa Treatment when we get it?

Laura - I hope you have a good trip! You can always let me know if you do need anything, I really don't mind. I also bought a big pouch of probiotics, so if you need any let me know.

Sorry about the hiccuping chick. I have no idea, but I hope you find out something soon.

I'm impressed with the darkness of the coloring already.
I've never been drawn to RIR's but I've really only seen hatchery untill Red Bluff, he was a very handsome young man.

The HRIRs are very active, healthy and friendly. They even posed for the pictures and I did not have to tape their feet down....

Litter life is what Southland organics has. https://www.southlandorganics.com/litter-life

There is a blurb on their site that says:

A grower for Columbia Farms in Georgia had been dealing with high losses due to E-Coli for several flocks in a row. After applying litter life between flocks, he experienced no recurrence of E-Coli. He also commented how his ammonia was markedly lower than normal, even at the end of his flock.

It would probably get to you faster than the lactobacillus could be made.

Can anyone help me with our Patridge Wyandotte's age? We are trying to figure out when to offer extra calcium to her diet. The man we got her from said she wasn't much older than the 10 weekers....but she is at least twice their size.

On the HRIR site Bob Bosl just today said:

The reason they declined is no buddy raises them anymore. The commercial stuff are really not the same breed just washed out genetic mutts trying to look like the breed.

I have two Productions reds and they never looked or acted like these. It is like they two completely different breeds.

The wyandotte is older by at least two weeks. They mature much slower than EEs. 12 to 14 weeks old. The EE will still lay sooner.....
