Well I have come to the realization that I have too many hens....
I am getting over 20 eggs a day and I haven't had much luck selling the eggs around here to people I know. I haven't listed on Craig's List because I didn't want people coming over to the house to buy eggs. My refrigerator is full, I could freeze some but then my freezer would be full too... so I am going to sell off some of my egg layers. These are not rare chickens, and I got them originally so I could decide which breed I liked and to get some broodys. I believe I have decided...
I thought my old EE girls had given up laying last year so I purchased a bunch of chicks to replace them last March and some more to figure out who I liked. However, it appears my old girls weren't finished yet (either that or they really love the fermented feed I have been giving them). The 4 old girls are laying as well as the 10 other hens.. so that's 14 from the large breed pen and between 5 and 8 from the bantam pen - and 3 more from the silkies (although I am going to set those).. I am overrun with too many eggs and I have more pullets growing up, yikes!
I have a cage of mixed bantams that I need to sort out too - most of them are young mutts from my two broodies (7) so I will probably have some fun when they get older. I am not sure yet - but the new ones might all be hens...
EDITED:
Ok, I did some research in my area and the hens sell from 20-25 dollars each, roosters around 10-15. I already found one person on Craig's List looking for Americauna (which means feedstore EEs) hens and a rooster, contacted them and will see if they reply. If anybody is interested in the Silver Laced Wyandottes or the big huge Blue Laced Red Wyandotte let me know. They would be 20.00 each.

I like the darker brown, they look almost red brown like my red stars lay and I am interested but I think that for awhile anyway I have to hold off. Thanks though. Have yours gone broody. I hear they are good mommies.
