AH! Don't say that. I've got 3 Amercaunas 2 1/2 weeks old and I'm still hoping my favorite is a GIRL...well, that ALL are girls really, but I do know that's not reasonable!
Unless you are Molly :)

I don't know if I can share with you the blog where I found it but there is a great one it and talks about the reasons hens eat eggs and the fixes. Ron made me see that it was likely their health that was the culprit and that made me stop feeling as though my sweet girls had suddenly turned into degenerates. This blog post just reinforced what he had already shared. Let me know if I can share it and I will.

I am so glad I don't have to attend a 12 step program for the loved ones of avian egg eaters...the the one for chicken addicts already eats up enough of my time

I love the little cochins. My Columbians have started to lay well, after the first few clears, every egg has hatched. I have 6 or 7 new chicks from them and I just put in 12 more of their eggs last night. They are the cutest little chicks. I'll try to post a picture of them later.

The bantam Cochins frizzles are so addicting...

I would like to see the blog. I get sad when I read about people rehoming or culling "egg eaters" I am sometimes ignored or not believed when I point out that egg eating is not the problem and that egg eaters are extremely rare.

Like I posted previously, "egg eaters" are extremely rare so when I read "caught the egg eater and got rid of her" and then a couple of days later I read "caught another one" and got rid of her...I know that there is something else going on.

I've been dealing with a really sick kid- I wish I could catch up. I do need some advice though. My duck eggs and goose egg (that I suspect died yesterday - im so sad) are slated to hatch the 20th. Well one of my duck eggs pipped yesterday. A full 5 days early lol. It started with 1 pip in the egg, then later that day 2 in the same egg. Now the next day there are a tiny cluster of those pips on the egg. I got worried so I picked up the egg (it's been almost 24 hours since I spotted the pip) and a piece of egg fell off the pip area and I can see the membrane is intact. I've got the humidity up, I tore off the tops of egg cartons and laid all the eggs in them - I've just been trying to be patient. Oh and I did hear some faint peep sounds coming from that egg and I also see some of the other eggs wiggle sometimes as well.

So egg #11 that has been pipping since yesterday...leave be for now?

Yes iirc ducks take a while. Just keep an eye to make sure they don't get shrink wrapped and stuck. I don't worry unless it is stuck zipping as long as it can breath.
