Noooo! How can I choose between Sprinkles and Emma... Errr Emmet :'(
Yeah, he is really pretty though.
If they grow up together and get along you may not have to choose.

ThanksVery nice buffs and I've always loved d'Anvers. My son had quail when he was in 4H.
Shantih, so some of the chicks that I hatched from your eggs could be these? I have 3 chipmunk chicks whose legs are starting to turn green. Only one of them has really puffy cheeks.
Yes. The ee eggs would be these. Puffy chheks are vonnies chicks. Sleek are miss furys. Gray back and salmon chests are girls. Gold and lots of color and confetti are boys.
Or at least this is how I understand the genetics. This cross should give you a double blue gene with no possibility of unwanted other colored eggs.
Its a big dream!
Oh my goodness...........are you a d'anver expert, Chickee?Thanks![]()
The d'Anvers are especially nice for the kids to show. Mine are really friendly and sweet! I like them so much I just had to have more! Ordered the very rare color assortment (buff Columbian, Dun Cuckoo and Dun Quail) from Boggy Bottom Bantams. 9 out of the 12 I have in the bator are growing! The buff Columbians (if they hatch) bred to my porcelains (his carry the lavender gene) will give me buff Columbian, Porcelain and lavender Columbian chicks![]()

sounds like a easter egger of some sort to meShantih, so some of the chicks that I hatched from your eggs could be these? I have 3 chipmunk chicks whose legs are starting to turn green. Only one of them has really puffy cheeks.
Real nice there CandySold the other 3 bantam buff Brahma pullets today (sold a rooster with pullet last week) I had advertised on BYC. I did have 8 pullets and 2 roosters and sold one rooster and 4 hens to make room for more d'Anvers in my kennel pen. Great to meet another really nice fellow BYCer from AntiochThey went to a super nice home!![]()
Here are some pictures I took today of the 4 pullets and rooster I kept. The four hens are from eggs sent to me from a BYC friend who bought her trio directly from John Neff and the rooster is from shipped eggs from a breeder that got his stock from Darlene Hobb's. They are super nice quality birds.

I had this with my last set of chickens. It was very helpful in that they usually never ran out of water. Except when dummy me didn't turn the hose on high enough to fill! The chickens faces with muffs were always wet and wet down so I never got the full effect of fluffy cheeks. They couldn't really stand on it as it was a little slippery and a little at an angle where I had it and cleaning was a pain for me because DH at the time installed it "permanently" to a board in the run. I had to unbolt it and unscrew the top and the thing needed to be cleaned weekly in the summer if not more, because it was pretty hot and got stinky quickly. I say weekly because I work all week.Does anyone use this waterer? They have them at the feed store for like $50 and I like it but wanted to research them before buying. When I tried to look it up I can't find anything on them! This is the only photo Google could come up with! I took a snapshot of the one's at the store to see if they had any branding on them and the only thing they say is "Auto Cage Fount" and down in little tiny print, "Available from C.G. Smith Dist" which didn't come up with any hits either.![]()

This being the only matched photo I could find of it goes to a blog that doesn't have any info.
HI Chiquita..... I was thinking about it maybe, but these quail I hatched have gone bananas in the last two days. Jumping all over and just trying to get out of where they are. They are 4 weeks old, and I took 3 boys out to make more room, but I think I may need to take more out or make another red neck brood box until my stupid self gets the quail pen done.... Is there something magical that happens at four weeks that makes them nuts?Im going to be ordering Huge quail and some exotics from James MArie farms on monday. if anyone wants to piggy back on the order, let me know.

Quote: I am keeping three from that hatch--Two Amelias and 1 Blue Barnie(she is splash).
I can only have so many pullets....And I do not have any roos. I do plan on breeding them back to the Crele Pene though so maybe I should keep all of them.
Mossy I remembered what I was going to say to you. If you want to feed your girls greens try making a planter out of a cement tray. You put sprouted grass or grain in it and put a wire cover on top so they can't eat it all. Works great.
wait to see if they lay a olive or green egg. If they lay a brown egg give them up. That way when you breed back to a crele penedesenca hopefully the offspring will lay a darker olive egg.I am keeping three from that hatch--Two Amelias and 1 Blue Barnie(she is splash).
