Trisha, it is evident the hard work you have put into your breeding program. Loved reading your story about it. Are the blues accepted yet?
No, not yet. I believe you have to have at least 5 breeders working with them for 5 years to get them accepted.

My blue momma hen and her babies. She doesn't let anyone mess with her babies without putting up a fuss. The babies tend to nearly disappear in the deeper grass, but all come a running when she calls them.

Beautiful!!! My broody is starting to take her babies around the rest of the flock but she is hyper vigilant when it comes to protecting them. There is only one other hen (a Golden Sexlink) that she lets by them without a fuss. Yesterday, both of them took on Fiona, my Coronation Sussex hen. All three of them were jumping over the top of each other, one after another with their feathers all fluffed up. I've never seen them do that before! They looked like juggling fluff balls! All 3 babies were hiding in between two forage trays. After they put Fiona in her place, Precious took her babies back to their area of the yard. There is always something exciting happening in my backyard chicken world!

for us! We are a gabby group!

As a herding dog, her instincts tell her to keep the "sheep" with me, which is exactly what she's trying to do here.

Another fantastic pic! I love your dog's focused expression combined with the chicks totally oblivious look! Thank you for sharing your photos with us! Ever thought about writing a children's book based on your dog and chicks? Or how about a calendar?

Candled last night. Couldn't help myself!!! All is well on the light eggs but my ccl eggs are black. Well almost. It's been at least 4years since I candled blue eggs and they weren't this huge so I don't remember if that's good or bad. aHHHhH! Someone tell me it's all peachy keen and I'm becoming a worry wart. I thought I had left the "stressed out" days behind me. What a joke. One 0% hatch and now I'm right back to the nervous Nellie of 7 years ago!
Dark is good, glowing is bad.

I can see into those eggs with my High intensity Brinsea candler.

Deb - do you have a recipe you use for that braising? It sounds good and I want to do it with our next cockerels we process. If you do have a recipe you use, could you please PM it to me?
I don't, I just made it up and don't measure, but I'll PM you what I do. It's pretty forgiving so that you can add what you personally like. It's great for turning stringy cockerel into yummy.

Ok

I could see a bit of vains and jumping around last week. But this week air pocket and -dark. But no discoloration to indicate a bloodring. So ill just wait :-) Now I just need to switch over to the brinsea products;-0 Thank you very much, Kandi
