California - Northern

I was going to PM you about this. I am following the fermented feed thread too, and have tried to ferment regular chick starter but it isn't producing any bubbles. I have tried several times. I am using a small amount to see if I can even get it to work in a jar. But I am not having any success getting the bubbles. I am using the Bragg's ACV. I will let it sit for up to a week and there is very little activity if any. How do you get yours to work?
My first batch was started with Braggs apple cider vinegar but I didn't like how it was growing so I made my own LAB (lacto bacillus) culture using the steps on this video:

I'm very happy with the way my culture is growing using LAB and there are other uses for the extra LAB cultures.

Candy glad you got some to start with.

Sadly the poor chick did not make it. After giving it the poly vi sol it seemed more perky but sadly was laying in the corner when I got up

I'm sorry -

. I tried to help a chick in a weird position in it's egg last night. She had her head between her legs in the small end of the egg. I could see her moving, but she passed one minute before I figured out where her beak was. I helped her, but she was gone before it did any good.

I went to the bator yesterday morning to toss eggs that failed to hatch Monday and found a little Cream Legbar rooster looking up at me. I had to do a double take cuz I really did not expect him to be in there. He seems perfectly healthy with no leg issues. Tough little bugger.

I can't believe the wide stance on the chick on the left! Will be a bruiser!

Oh, that's too bad. Well at least you gave it a chance and now you'll have the PVS on hand. It really can work wonders, but some chicks just aren't destined to make it. I've had my share of those too.
