Posting this to help a friend. Anybody in the Rio Linda area who can help an older couple get a very tame little Dexter cow on her feet? She recently calved and is down in the barn, away from her calf. They aren't strong enough to get her on her feet. Please email me if you know of someone who can help and I will put you in touch.

That varies, county by county. My county (El Dorado) used to have both open and youth, in poultry, beef, sheep, hogs, goats........ Now we only have youth shows.

The only poultry thing I can enter in my local fair are eggs and that's through Home Arts. But it's okay for me, I'm a canner, baker, photographer & tatter................I get out my competitive streak!

Alright Chickee, you have me intrigued. I have a couple of Wheaton EE (Ameraucana?) that have slightly different color variations. What color would you call these gals? And yes, those are really their names.

By your pictures #1 Princess would be considered a splash because she has white in her tail and #2 Princess has the color of a blue wheaten because she has blue in her tail and wing bows. Are they pure Ameraucanas or EEs with wheaten coloring?

My black penedesenca and layer flock run is about done. Just need to nail the no climb fence to the last post and add my gate that I have.
I forgot the heavy duty tent stakes while at the Home Depot yesterday so need those for a few spots and to hang the rest of my netting. I need to move my small pallet coop in there until I get my other bigger one situated. Then I can put both my Easter eggers from Candy and older Black Penedesenca in there.

Ron I put the young roo with the U of A blues. he is slightly bigger and already showing them he is the boss. There are 3 white empordanesa that are younger in there too and he is way bigger but is not messing with them.

Candy I think I have a few roosters in there from you. None are getting any roostery color like the wheatens can get so maybe they are taking on buff looks? However a few are getting red combs and pointy feathers.. I know 3 are hens at least for sure. I think 1 is a wheaten or blue wheaten ameraucana. will try and get better pics once They go in the larger run.

I was thinking you got a pure Ameraucana by the color of the chick at hatch or it is a throw back from the wheatens used to create the buffs. If the type and color fit, then it is considered useable for purebred Ameraucana breeding. That would be great if you got at least 3 pullets. The last hatch of my 8 wheaten Ameraucana chicks so far look like all pullets! I am guessing on my new hatch of blue wheaten Ameraucana chicks from Linda that out of 7 there are 3 roosters.

Honestly, I don't know. The person I bought the eggs from had three roosters. Ameraucana, EE, and Marans. Her hens were Americauna, EE, Oliver Egger, and Marans. These two hatched from blue eggs. Mama Hen had to be an Americauna, because her other hens don't lay blue eggs. I'm guessing Papa Roo was either the Americauna or the EE. If they both lay blue eggs, does that mean they are pure?
