California - Northern

Hi all I am new and in the Sacramento area, nice to meet you all. Anyone have suggestions on how to get rid of a roo. I picked up what were supposed to be 6 pullets nine weeks ago, but my barred rock flexed HIS vocal cords this morning and I can't have roos. Looking to give him away to a nice home. My buff orpington is also showing signs of being a roo but (it) hasn't crowed yet so I will hang on to it until it does. I have posted the barred rock on craigslist, any other suggestions

Welcome - nice ta meetcha!!! There's a lot of really cool people here. I don't post too often, but I really enjoy reading the stories! Good luck with your roo. I really hope your orp is a burly girl instead of a roo.

welcome and good luck with the rooster
So what do they do with the Roosters at a Rooster Rescue? From the sound of it they let them go in Fair Oaks!

But seriously..... how can they rescue all the Roosters that are around?
it is like the island they send all the bad kids to on the movie Pinocchio
Urg.... lost another Jaerhon. Sand Hill shorted me two (made up for it by sending extra FJ) , two died so now I am down to 1. If color is an indication of sex, I would say it is a girl. The two that died were much much lighter. The Flame Jaerhons are doing well. I think I have 6-7 flames, including the one I put under a broody for a spanking.
sorry . seems all the extras they send are the less hardy ones of breeds they have orders for

English Orpington Butt!
cool

I put a fan in my incubator a little while ago. It holds temp way better now. I haven't had any temp fluctuations since I put it in. I'm locking down eggs tonight. Do I turn the fan off?

It is a kinda cool fan. I has a blue light on it, so I can see the eggs without a flashlight. I got it for the ice chest incubator I was (am) making. I had it all put together, except for the thermostat. I've had a heck of a time finding one that would work for an incubator from a store. When ever I go and ask for help and tell them what I'm making they talk to me like I'm stupid and I don't know what I'm doing -- so frustrating!! So I gave up on that for now, and I put the fan in my Hovabator. These are the eggs from Jason (Hangtown Farms), so excited for them to hatch!! I saw both of the little blue ones wiggling, so hopefully I will get a little pair of OE's.

In case someone is looking for a flock of quality bantam buff Brahmas, I am selling my rooster and 4 hens. Rooster is Darlene Hobb's line and the 4 hens are from a trio purchased directly from John Neff. These 5 BBBs are 1 year olds and my pick birds out of 8 roosters and 8 hens. I have an ad for them here on BYC in the 8 weeks and older for sale section. Very calm and great layers. Proven breeders with high fertility.

How pretty why are you selling them?

I also forgot to mention I fond ugly boy a home!! He went to live in Petaluma yesterday with 2 double blue genes ee boys. The 4 week old chicks he had been watching are still looking for him. He was such a good foster dad he will do great with his own flock. The combining of Iggy and Louise genes made a temperamentally perfect rooser-...
Yeah! So glad you got UB a home!
