California - Northern

Last week I was in St. Louis. Now that is HUMID. Green, too, which is nice until you get outside and get moving. I am resolved to appreciate our heat. (Check in with me next week; I may not still sing the same song). My best friend lives accross the Mississipi in Columbia, IL. She loves her community but hates the humid summers. Not easy to put a positive spin on 95+ with humidity that makes it feel much hotter. The forecast here is why DH and I are spending our July anniversary over on the coast, paying a premium to be at the ocean for a few precious days!
yeah I don't think I would like 90+ humidity

So, a possum can't get through that heavy duty poultry netting?
I would never say never but if you give it 6" to a foot overlap zip tie it or hog tie it down and keep it tight along with a fence they can not easily get under you should be fine. This material is pretty hard to cut through with scissors. It wont keep out over sized kitties ( bobcat , mountain lion or a bear but nothing will )

We are now quail people also! We went and picked up 4 girls and a boy this afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised with the "crow". They are two weeks old and very cute. It's going to take awhile to get used to how they lay with their legs stretched out behind them, just doesn't look right. All we could find locally were brown cots, but we like them so far.
Congrats!

2 weeks?? You mean 2 months? Pharoahs are great because you can sex them faster then others.

I'm on my phone so I can't quote but I'm not sure what tore the door off the coop. It 1/2 killed 2 grow outs I had to finish and defeathered nixie ( who was fine thank god) before I got down to the coop.

I threw something out the window and it ran away. The coop being right out of my bedroom has saved a few birds......

But I have to run all the way out of the u shaped house to get to it.
Holy cow! What kind of coop door do you have?

One of the new girls. Confirmed with Mariah, she said they are 2 weeks old.

So cute!

Eeek! I can hardly contain the excitement. First time broody was a success. What a good mama little Zsa Zsa is!

Chiqita, what color is this showgirl?

Now I have to go spend the rest of my day at work. :(

Gotta go pick raspberries and blueberries, then get out there and get ready to move mama hen to her private quarters with her chick and the rest of the eggs. Welsummer eggs haven't pipped yet.

Are red wattles at 9 weeks a sign of a boy even if the comb is still small and pale?

What breed?

I would think they can get in, yes.

A little hard to tell from the top of the head, but partridge maybe. I LOVE showgirl chicks (

So sweet!! My youngest daughter saw this picture, and was concerned by her pink neck. So we had to look up Showgirl pictures. Now she thinks we need some Showgirls.

. She keeps asking to look at naked neck chickens.
