California - Northern

just wanted to share pics of my first ever broody hatch...she went 4 for 4. The LG and I went 7 for 21 so it's broodies for me from now on

Thanks! So far she has proven herself. I really am mostly guessing but it looks like I have 2 boys and 2 girls based on their wing feathers but I don't know how accurate that is for EEs. A question, I know that EEs sometimes lay a brown egg but one of these babies came out of a white egg one came out of a brown and two came out of very pale green. They told me they were Ameraucana/Aracauna which I figured wasn't true but could the white one be something totally different or do the sometimes lay white? I guess it would depend on the cross wouldn't it.

The only drawback I see at this point to using a broody is that I don't know who came out of what egg though I think the smallest red one came out of the white egg. It also has pink legs and no puffy cheeks. I am looking forward to seeing what they turn out to look like.

Is anybody here going to the Small Animal Exchange tomorrow in Granite Bay?

I have decided to bring my 5-6 week old chicks that I don't want to keep (the Isbar x EE crosses, a bunch of suspected SBEL and PE boys and a bunch of Silkie Crosses (Partridge, Black & White)) to it. I have had them on Craig's List for a month and no responses. They will be $1 for suspected boys, $2 for unknown/girls. I just want to find them new homes.

I also have 4 bantam cross hens for sale - I can bring them if somebody wants to buy them, otherwise they will stay here. They are Light Brahma x Sumatra, and have tried to go broody on me already a few times so they would be great mothers. They lay small to medium light cream/white eggs.

I also have one Speckled Sussex boy, one Blue Olive Egger Boy and two Swedish Flower Hen Crested Boys (Both Blue) available. I won't bring them unless somebody here wants them.

PM me if you are interested in any of the above
I may. what time is it? look for the 2 crazy kids and the guy shaking his head

Its 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They said its going to be in front of one of their warehouses - so bring some shade and something cool to drink. I am, for both myself and those chicks.

If anyone else would like to join us, it is being held at Douglas Feed and Pet Supply, 5460 Douglas Blvd. Granite Bay 95746. Its free - plenty of parking - the phone number for the store is (916) 791-3202.

Oh.. and Jason.. if you want to, bring the killerbator and I can give it a brain transplant in the parking lot.

He once had a strawberry and was running with it, couldn't see where he was going...ran right into a wooden barrel.
