Congrats on the grandson, and to anyone with new chicks!
I finally re-homed my Sebright rooster; the family that got him had a nice big coop in the countryside without any roosters, and were looking for a small, fancy roo for their broody bantam hen (and the other 11 hens of varying sizes as well). They had 2 kids who loved chickens and they produced their own mealworms as chicken treats, so I feel pretty lucky to have found them! I think my hens are a little bit confused about the loss of their rooster, but I got them some extra mealworms and crickets and sat with them for a long time to make up for taking their man away. On the positive side, now we can all sleep in past 5:30 am! And I won't be fined for having a rooster illegally.
Maybe now that I'm down to 3 tiny hens, I'll have to do some chicken math...
