Both pappa and Deanne have turned the incubators off iirc.

They should have eggs.

All I have upcoming is breese and silkies/ showgirls. I'm not off but have stopped putting eggs in so I can see it!

I may be interested in some Bresse. I have spoken to some friends who will process for me!!!

Now I just need to figure out where to keep them.

You are very reassuring. Thanks. I worry mostly because she and her twin sister have been best buddies forever and this is the first time they have not gone somewhere together. I didn't want them to choose the same college, they did; didn't want them to room together so they didn't freshman year but shared a room in an apartment every year after. She is a very true and loyal friend but takes awhile to make new ones. I just hope there a bunch of nice people in their twenties that she can hang out with. In the meantime there is skype.

So cute I love to watch mama hens with babies sticking their little heads out everywhere. I have a hen who wants to go broody I have been taking her eggs away I forgot how cute it is .

laura cute baby pics. I am surprised at how worldly wise my broody chicks are vis a vis brooder chicks. I love that they are experiencing so much. I love even more that they are not in the house.

after DH left to take Erin to the airport at 4:45 I posted here and did a few things but fell back asleep. Was awakened by a Rrrrup RrrrrruP. Looked out the window to see Ozzie not only crowing but dancing. Harriet and the April pullets seem quite impressed and are hanging out with him. The big girls are like "Talk to me when you can bring me a grub buddy." But they are chasing him way less.

Life in the Brown Layer pen is moving right along but there has been a lot of change in there over the summer. I bet they are all relieved that the drama of introductions, sickness and egg sitting are over.

sounds fabulous! none of my young cockerels have started crowing yet (at 10-12 weeks old) -- perhaps Max gives them too much competition vocally (although they are in separate pens)

and i decided to put Jane and her two chicks back in the henhouse, at least until the sun comes out (?) later today -- the weaker baby just doesn't keep up like it should and keeps getting cold (and is very noisy as a result). but i'm with you, i like that they learn so much more out in the world -- and they AREN'T in my guest bathroom!

Not sure if anyone else has the Today Show on but the bird on the set is driving me nuts. I spent 10 minutes earlier trying to find it in the garage, porch, etc. Didn't figure it out until I hit mute on the tv for the third time.

Now that is too hilarious!

I have a tray full of them in the incubator and a fair few running around outside too. Its MADNESS out there!

what is worse is I have turkeys and Gunieas that are between 8-10 weeks old running around my office pooping on everything. They should go outside but i'm not sure where to put them. At least the last batch of turkeys is under pumpkins.
i have to go to the oragne fair thingie this month, i need to sell some birds. I even have marans pullets, i don't know how that happened!

Good stuff Ali hahahahaha...I may have said this here before but I read somewhere on BYC that pullets are impressed with the size and show of a rooster whereas mature hens want him to be a provider and protector. I have told my daughters...and other people's daughters too for that matter that they need to be taking lessons from the birds
