I love the crele coloring. I was looking into the Penedesencas I just need more space!

well the seem to do ok in runs

I have a 16x36 run that has 5 hens and a rooster and is about to get 2 more hens. Once my new guys grow out. Rocky my rooster is going to get moved out and I will have 2 guys in there and add two more hens.
I have 6 eggs cooking from my friend so if these hatch then well Ill need another run for another line.

It was my Del cockerel who was chasing my poor little Icelandic girl Rue, around the shrubbery. She is just 16 weeks old and isn't showing any signs of laying so I was surprised by his ardor. Maybe he has a thing for feathered legs.

of my late March/April chicks I think that I will get my first egg from my California Grey or my Delaware from Kim but one of my EEs is getting all pink too. Nor expecting anything for at least a month.
Maybe Del like the French girls.....

I noticed that the Barnevelder Splash and the Orps all have red wattles or combs. They have had for weeks and they hatched at the end of April. I am still not expecting anything for another two months.

Funny how birds of a feather flock together. I have many breeds in the same pen together, but this is what I found yesterday when I went out to take pictures. The GCM pullets hatched together, but the rooster came from a friend. They are all molting right now so looking pretty ratty. They are big for only being 4 months old! Looking forward to my first chocolate colored eggs!

Funny you mention that as I was just out closing everyone up because I got home late and shined a flashlight in on them and my only 3 Polish were on one side of the roost and everyone else was on the other side.....
A wallaby??????????? yes!!!!

Just what I need, another big commitment pet, LOL
How is the Parrot egg coming?

yeah they generally dont complain much and are appreciative when you do something nice for them like give them mealworms.
None of my family ever acted excited when I offered them mealworms

My family thinks I am plain nuts for having meal worms at all. They are actually kind of disgusted......lolol.

I feel like that too!

Chickens are much better than most relatives.
Haha I was like I can't go I'm so sorry who's going to take care of the little ones? Then we talked for about an hour about who we knew could watch them for a week and I fibbed a little and said the 6 week old need someone over night. So no one was available...

Hers where real small . I am not sure if there dwarf kinds or not but they where much shorter than my 5 year old

Wallabies are small. They can still do damage though. Just like a kangaroo will do if threatened, they will balance on their tail and kick out with their hind feet. They have really long toenails.

i love the idea of a guard-wallaby!

sad news here -- one of my isbar/marans crosses, the beautiful splash one, has disappeared -- i know she was in the coop friday evening, everyone was out free-ranging all day yesterday, and when i put everyone away in the evening, she was nowhere to be found. was half-hoping she'd reappear over night, but no sign today, either. i was home all day & never heard the commotion of a predator, so it's something of a mystery.

hopefully she returns but you never know. Dusk is the worse time for chickens disappearing

I'm sorry. A hawk is the most likely culprit.
