My rooster came first thing this morning and was crowing all morning at the post office!

The girls will be so happy to see him too.

I mis-wrote, the seller decided last night, the day after Escrow was opened, he didn't want to sell the property after all. I had three days of excitement and planning before it got stopped.

Their agent was discussing the well and septic inspections (paid for by me) and asking for times / dates to accommodate scheduling them when the elderly male owner suddenly decided he didn't want to sell the property after all.
I know that you had all kinds of plans for that property and I'm sorry that you were disappointed. Will you be reimbursed for the money that you put into it?
I hope that something better comes up. We had a property that we wanted to buy "fall out of escrow", but we ended up finding this place which turned out for the best.

I'm hoping for birthday eggs today.

I remember empty nest syndrome. My entire life revolved around my kids and they left a huge hole when they moved out. I filled that hole with my animals, so now I'm busy and happy again. But it did take time.

That's good news!

Ron, I forgot to say that I like your avatar. Is the farmer keeping the breeds separate?

He is keeping the Roosters and I am keeping the Breeding Pullets. The plan is for me to pick next years pullets which I will keep until he sets up the breeding pens.

I need to keep the blood lines pure and do some homework on breeding practices. It will be easier with the Basque since I will be breeding one of the Roosters from Megans flock, Which will not be a brother or close relative. The Pita Pintas will take some work because I will only have two pullets to work with. The UofA Blues will be easier since I have 4 nice pullets and Two nice Roosters. The UofA Blues will be the next up for breeding and then the Blue Australorps. The HRIRs might wait until Spring along with the Partridge Penedesencas.

That Egg Farmer is going to have an amazing flock. Did I tell you that he sells these eggs in the Bay Area for $7.00 per dozen?

I really wonder what people at the post office think when we ship chickens all over.....
