Ok, one is out of shell. She kicked it out of the nest, I tried to put it back, but she picked it p by the foot and kicked it back out.. I don't have a heat lamp,, so kept it in my shirt until I could fill a hot water bottle with hot water and put it in a very small box to keep it warm. I can't leave until later to get a heat lamp. Is there a better way to keep warm until then?
It seems quite healthy with nothing wrong with it. I will know more once it is dry

all it needs is a 70-100 watt bulb. A desk lamp will do as will a table lamp if you can rig it to hang up side down. The lamp portion should be out of the brooder with only the light portion shining in to keep the baby warm Good Luck Mossy Oak!
Also a fuzzy sock filled with rice and microwaved for a couple of minutes is good too.

Try putting the chick back under her tonight. I hope she kicks into Mom Hen mode for you!
No I am actually still limited to 5 hens. I never did well in math class. It is county but a small lot so I have restrictions.
