ill have to look them up Ron. They would make cool olive eggers

I think so too. A lot of people are into the olive colored eggs. Some really do not like them though. A co worker will not have anything to do with Olive eggs.

I've been eyeing that breed for a little while now. I really like their egg color.
I really hope I can get one that lays robin blue eggs. They look a bit like Araucanas--I think Araucanas came from them.

Help I am having an issue starting a new thread! I am trying to figure out how to stop my drake from breeding my chicken hens. My chicken eggs are brown and triple in size! I have 3 Pekin duck hens and 14 chicken hens and a rooster who is more into killing moles than breeding my hens. Besides none of my hens will sit on the nest. Do I need to build a confined area for the ducks only? At the moment they all free range with my horse's.

Go to the Duck section and click on start a thread.

Yes, separate the Ducks from the Chickens. Ducks have an appendage--Chicken Roosters do not. It is possible for a Drake to hurt a Chicken Hen.

I am on a list to get Colloncas next year.

They lay Green to Lavendar eggs.

I will have to look them up - never heard of them.

Yes, separate them. As Ron said, drakes have "parts" and penetrate for mating. Chickens mate by a cloacal kiss, so penetration can injure/kill them.

looks like we have a decent size fire down by Pleasant Valley. there are a few helicopters circling us now.

I hope they get it out Quickly!

The wind is calm here so hopefully it is not too windy there.

Finally got some pics uploaded to my computer. These are my 5 week old Pita Pinta chicks along with 1 Bresse cockerel and a Barred Rock/Marans mix. The little BR mix looked just like a Barred Rock after hatch but now she is getting her bars mostly on her head & neck and they are more brown than black.

This is our favorite PP. Her (?) name is Harlequin and we call her Harley for short. She is the friendliest one and runs to get picked up. She is the only one who isn't scared at all when we hold her. Please don't tell me if she is a he. I want to live in denial for at least another week.
