You know it is kind of a funny color white. My last Polish laid pretty white eggs...this one is white... ish.

Yes, a tint of white--like pearl. They will become whiter over the lying cycle(time between molting).

They should be very pretty eggs.

Do a search for breed crosses that make sex links. There are lot of them. Some work better though--some will make good egg laying hens and other will not.

Both auto sexing and sex link makes sense to me if you either plan on only selling pullets and keeping the boys to process later or destroying the boys at hatch. If you are not selling the pullets, then a good dual purpose breed that breeds true seems like a better choice to me.

LOL I just want to figure out if the black chick is a boy or a girl...

I practice patience with them. Many of the breeds I have let me know what gender they are by 6 weeks old. The Penedesencas in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations on the new chicks!

Wow...thanks that is super informative...I learned that a Del isnot white but is Silver...Also in looking at pics of my CA Grey pullets as chicks they all have the head spot so now I am totally confused but now have hope it may be a girl

Another SPW baby hatched: :jumpy ...They are super cute chicks Alli, since all of the chicks in my last broody hatch were cockerels I am thinking that the powers that be will reward my continued faith by giving me nothing but pullets this go round....that's how it works right??:yiipchick

Cute chicks!!! I have six yellow chicks in the brooder and thought that all of them were Bresse but one has light chipmunk markings! It will be fun to see what it looks like when grown. I'm thinking that it is a boy, though. At day 6, it has no tail and very short wing feathers. The other 5 have little tails and much bigger wing feathers.
