Today I processed two turkeys, sorted out eight for next year's breeder's, two more to finish raising for the holidays and someone came by to buy the last twenty turkeys!!!

Yup, ALL GONE, all 35 extra turkeys, :celebrate   Of course it was great they also bought a bred dorper ewe, two dorper ram lambs and a dorper ewe lamb.  They are coming back to buy our extra male alpaca and they want some roosters!!!

Good day :weee

You are my hero, Deb. :bow A couple of regulars at The Pub have asked me if I was willing to sell some pullets and I started to hyper-ventilate. MY pullets? That I hatched? Or my hens hatched? My GrandChicks?!? Ummm.. Maybe in the spring... Right now I have to improve the roo/hen ratio some more....

That is great!

I felt good about processing one Cockerel and not looking forward to processing five next weekend.

I have to keep telling myself that the feed bill will be lower and they taste so good.

I shared a hatch of Heritage Rhode Island Reds with Lualshannon and I saw pictures of them today on the Heritage RIR thread. It was hard to let them go but now they are thriving in Sanoma County. It is great to see more of these very rare chickens getting establishes at another place in California.

Collecting my darkest GCM eggs to incubate!

We have a lot of young wild turkeys hanging out at the house. My husband thinks they look awfully tasty! We did eat one several years ago for Thanksgiving and it was delicious! They had been eating acorns and the meat had this wonderful nutty flavor

I thought this was interesting . . I was taking pictures of my Silkie chicks tonight and they were not happy about it at all and were huddling together. When I looked at the pictures I had taken I noticed they had grouped themselves by color! It IS true that birds of a feather flock together!

That is too funny, they sure are pretty!

It is super windy tonight! I keep hearing things banging and rattling outside the house but I'm not going to check to see what it is. The chickens are secure and hopefully no tree branches will come down!
