Hello!
Non GMO feed is a mix. Kings did some research on a price point and does it as organic as they can in that range. But they use non GMO products always.
Crissy I get my food by the barell from a guy out your way ( a bit closer to Sacramento) from a guy who buys it from a mill. Its 20% organic. I'm very lucky he sells it!

I have 1 more silkie who has gone broody. I finally look to have gotten them to sit on their own eggs . they were all fighting over nests before. I think Crissy called me up about breese. Those eggs are under my new hat trick ssilki last night.

Capa great story! I was wondering about a pig eating all the chickens and not leaving feathers etc. Alpine welcome back! I actually found pulletceggs to be fertile and hatch well just smaller chicks. Beautiful AM's.

Ron I'm hoping to have beib chicks sometime this winter . I need big fat birds!

Today is integration day in my chicken yard! I have 2 broody mamas who each have 3 chicks. 1 group is 9 1/2 weeks old and still trying to fit under my BW Ameraucana hen. It's pretty funny to see her try to cover them at night! The second group is 6 1/2 weeks old and mama is a Coronation Sussex. They have been sleeping in a secure brooder pen at night and having free range of my tomato/squash area of the garden. When they were younger, they didn't do much damage to the produce but now that the older group is almost as big as mama, they are sampling the young squash which doesn't make me happy. So this morning, the garden was closed to them and the gate to the main yard with the other chickens was opened. So far, so good! I wish that I could sit out there all day and watch.

One of my big OE girls came over to check out the action and BW Am mama went ballistic on her. She's a scrappy girl and very good at defending her babies! My giant 27 week old blue Langshan cockerel charged in to break it up and got his butt whipped by mama. I would love to keep this boy here in town. He isn't crowing yet but I think that I'll get one of those rooster collars to try on him. He makes me smile!

The Beib chickens must be productive egg layers too. The Seller on ebay snuck a second short time auction in an hour after the first auction--enough eggs from his flock to send out two 12+ auctions in one week.

They will look good alongside the Basque hens too.

Please try the rooster collar! My oldest daughter says she does not have enough information the make one so if you figure one out that works let me know.

It is getting quite noisy in my garage so this weekend is processing day for me. Yipee....

. Five will be more than I normally do in a day but I really do love the flavor of these guys.

I need to look back and find the info for the lady who is selling the collars. I would just rather buy one that has already been rooster tested than trying to make my own. I am really hoping that they work because I would love to keep the Pita Pintas here in town. They are rapidly becoming my favorite birds and may even take top spot over my Langshans.

Me too!

If you find information on buying one, Pleas post it.

Pita Pintas are really something.

I have Laurens email. I need to order some myself! I'll post it here and send it to you once I'm on the computer. Warning they don't stop crowing they just make it like a young boys crow. Usually that is enough. But if you have fussy neighbors it won't work.

Someone is coming to buy turkeys today! Here is hoping this makes a difference in the feed bill. The new Muscovites are not used to free ranging and eat more. Of course they want pheasent feed they seem to all hate duck biscuits.

Thank you chiqita!

They will eat the duck biscuits if they are hungry--a couple of days usually.

I think everyone needs a Pita Pinta or 2 in their flock!

I have a very eclectic layer flock. I love trying out new breeds and I really like almost every breed that I've had but the PPs are special.

Here is Laurens email. [email protected] I think the collars are 7 plus shipping. She got a little overwhelmed with orders so it might not be immediate, but she might be caught up now.

I'm thinking of seeing if she will wholesale them so I can have them for people around here who get attached to their roosters.

Ron, they even eat them at night when it is the only food option. They just love crumbles. But out in they yard everyone shares feed buckets and they go to the turkeys bucket. I know ducks can have too much protein so I worry a little . I know thats why No 1 got angel wing :(. But they eat grass all day long and mint, and a variety of plants, so I think they should be ok. I just want to make sure they get enough niacin. But its bloody annoying to pay TWICE as much for something they generally dislike!

We are going away OVERNIGHT this weekend! Im very excited. I have worked it out so everyone should be safe. The only problem could be the breese, whose coop is covered by netting, not wire. Nothing has ever tried to get in there with them, however. Im trying to decide if I should leave the lights on or off in the main coop. It does have a big window so they would get some light, but not a ton. I imagine that would make them less active while I am away, but i worry its not enough light for them to be happy. I could leave the light on 24/7 but then they will be hyper chickens and have more time to knock over waterers, etc. They would have light from around 9 to 4:30 naturally. Is that enough to eat drink and be merry?
